Jackson Heidesch, I think he ran like a low 3:59 his senior year in high school to break four and was also around 6'3 at the time. Not sure if he ever played in high school, but there is an article that mentions him growing up with basketball. Definitely one of the best milers and two milers of his class.
I’ve run sub-4 more than once and have dunked several times. I’m only 5’7.5” tall, and I did it well before super shoes existed.
The only caveat is that the dunks happened on one of those adjustable height basketball hoops.
I can run a sub-4 800 to a nearby Dunkin' Donuts. Now, info, why not give us your N-A-M-E, so we can at least each satisfy our own curiosity about your alleged sub-4s. Otherwise, your word is poppycock...unless Trump really did win the 2020 election.
Hmmm, you're calling me out because I claimed to be 5-7.5 and a sub-4 miler (more than once) who dunked on a lowered rim, but two post later Oldsub4 claimed this... "OK, Ill brag. I did run sub4 and dunk in the same year -- I'm 6'3" ... and you say nothing. Maybe you know who Oldsub4 is, so...
This is me/info: I've run two official sub-4's, first was outdoor, second time was indoor.... I also have a sub-4 road mile at the old Steve Scott Festival of Miles. The race was whole second timing and the start/finish were at the same spot. I can also claim a couple road down hill sub-4's. One in Parkersburg, WV and the other at the State Street Mile in Santa Barbara, Ca. I also have roughly a dozen sub 3:42.22 1500 meter performances. I hope I've given enough specifics to at least remove "alleged" and "poppycock" out of your inquiry. I prefer to remain anonymous, but can provide more info if that's not enough as to who I might be. Look at the list of 700+ names and narrow it down.
I ran a sub 4 1500m in high school and could dunk at 6'2". Workouts would indicate that I could run close to 50 seconds over 400m. My reach is only 6' and I have a long neck, so I played a little shorter than my height on the basketball court. Most sub 4 minute milers who had 48 speed or better and were also 6 feet or taller, would probably be capable of dunking if they weren't the type who stop and jump off two feet when attempting a layup. I mentioned Ovett earlier, as he was about 6' tall and ran 47.5 at 18 and apparently did very well in the long jump as a 14 year old. I imagine that Roger Bannister and Jim Ryun could have dunked if they could manage a layup. Lots of very fast 800m runners who just slip under 4 minutes would be capable of dunking.
I’ve posted a video here of me dunking at 34, could first dunk at 18 and could throw it down very nice at the same time as running sub-15 in my early 20s. Never close to sub-4 though. Really any reasonably athletic guy in his 20s over 6’2 should be able to dunk.
The dunk part is easy. I first did it when I was about 14. Running a four minute mile.............maybe, if I was dropped out of a plane at 15,000 feet! Ha Ha!
Well heck, if we're gonna go that way - I could definitely dunk if I were dropped out of plane at 15,000 feet. Heck, I could dunk on a 14,999 foot high rim.

What makes the op’s question interesting is can someone who specializes in running to the point that they can break 4 still dunk? I used to be able touch to touch the top of the of the square on the backboard. I probably could have run 5:30 at the time. The training it required for me to eventually run 4:30 cost me several inches of vertical and I was only running about 40 miles a week. I could still dunk, but not nearly as easily. If I had gone all in on running fastest possible mile, I would lost even more vertical. The point is, the training required to dunk compared to the training required to run a fast mile are antithetical. The better you are at one the less likely you’ll be able to do the other one well.
