You still haven't explained why you have saved so little money while only paying that mush for rent. You should have a huge amoiunt saved.
First of all, I already posted that I have saved $350k. And the average American has only $8k saved, so I am well above average. And even if my parents gave me $325k of that, it's still my money and my savings.
This is not me. I don't know why someone thinks it's funny to pretend to be me or why they don't have anything better to do with their time.
To address your question, I think you are off base. I said in another post I have just recently started making six figures. I made significantly less than that before then. I was also in graduate school for a few years. You don't make much while in graduate school. Furthermore, you do realize there are only 12 months in a year, right? Even if my rent was $1500/month instead of $700/month, higher than what can be found in most of the US, that results in less than $10k/year with zero lifestyle changes. I have traveled abroad roughly once every two years the last 10 years and live very comfortably since I can. I'm not wasteful, but I don't really worry about what I spend money on.
Most people are not able to save much money regardless of their income or expenses. Obviously it's harder when you're struggling to get by, but even when people get big raises or even win the lottery, they usually blow it all. I think it's kind of funny honestly and typical of letsrun that someone comes on here crying about how I should have done better even though my net worth puts me at around the 90th percentile for my age despite the fact I inherited nothing and made $32k/year at my first job out of college.
Maybe better in your mind. Average makes more sense for winners because that means there are some people saving a huge amount. I don't care about all of the losers dragging the numbers down. 50% of people don't pay taxes. I don't want to be compared to them. I strive to be in the upper 1%..
Do you compare yourself to the average 5k runner ho runs 25 minutes? Most Americans are dumb and lazy and selfish. You earn much more than the average person. Your savings should be compared to people making an equivalent amount. And nobody pays less in rent than you and you haven't mentioned a wife or children. So you should be able to save a tremendous amount of money.

I am saving a lot now that I'm making more. I wasn't making nearly as much until roughly a year ago. Said that once.
I have a net worth of about $350k, and I live in a two bedroom apartment that costs $700/month. Is that weird? Also, I make a little over $100k/year. It's just me, no wife or kids, so I haven't really seen the need to live in a big house. I think most people assume I'm poor when they see where I live, even though the place is clean and tidy and a fine living space. It's just small compared to a house, and most people seem to think owning a home is everyone's number 1 priority. Just not sure how uncommon people like me are.
People are moving to smaller and smaller houses and dwellings. Smaller yards too. I own a house, but it's a lot to maintain...takes money yes, but it's the extra work really that's the pain. If you don't want to live somewhere other than an apartment, then do it. People in NYC live in apartments and that's not weird.
You should live where you want and not give a crap what anyone else thinks about that.
You aren't smart enough to realize that this is a troll/shill post to get views? Wow, you like 60 and appear to be going backwards.

The average net worth in the U.S. per household is 1 mil, and the median is like 200k. Am I supposed to be impressed?
where in the world are you renting a 2bd apartment for $700?
that's like Nairobi prices
In Nairobi, a 2-bedroom apartment can range from approximately USD 1,500 to over USD 3,000 per month, depending on the location, amenities, and whether it's furnished or unfurnished. For example, a 2-bedroom apartment in Westlands might cost around USD 3,000 per month, while in a location like Muthaiga, it could be closer to USD 2,700, according to Pam Golding Properties. A high-end, modern 2-bedroom apartment on Peponi Road might be offered for USD 1,500 including service charges.

This is false. Only 3% of US citizen have a net worth of 1 million dollars. Average is nowhere near your claim
Not weird at all! Plenty of people choose a smaller place even with decent savings and income because it just fits their lifestyle. I’ve seen folks happily renting neat apartments instead of chasing big houses—it’s about what makes you comfortable, not what others expect. When I was
once, I realized the whole process and moving logistics (found a top-notch moving contractor in London!) added a lot more stress than the size of the place.
