this is not NFL minimum salary money where you pay off mom's mortgage while buying your own house after being mr. irrelevant. my understanding is it's usually like 5 figures like getting a teaching job or something. it does free you up to accept prize money and such. but i dunno if 12th at the olympics wins you a ton of that right away.
and to me they were fixing to cover your last semester at harvard ~$30k, room and board, same coaching, for free. you will now pay for each of those items out of whatever NB gave you. your own apartment, your own food, your last harvard semester, and perhaps even give a little to the coach.
it's a good deal for noah lyles types off into the stratosphere. otherwise i think he could have stood one more semester and still competed for USATF nationals, worlds, etc.
last but it's a little goofy to have a coach with x sponsored college team but y sponsored pros. if your future pro sponsor is awkward with what you're doing in the garb of the college sponsor, and you feel pressured about it, that feels like a conflict of interest.
