That’s what we call tough love in Africa! We have been chastised , hit, beaten name it but it was always out of love! I am thankful to my parents, neighbors and school teachers to have given us such discipline with love! Now we can grow up in this crazy world ready and resilient in every situation! No mount high enough, no valley is low enough anything is possible just because of that discipline! When I was young I would feel my family hated me but when you grow you are more than grateful for that kind of love!
So what would you say to
1. Those who haven’t been beaten in their upbringing, but still feel very resilient and strong?
2. Those who have been beaten and struggle with psychologically issues, and feel that the beating has made them weaker?
3. Those who have been beaten, and think this is a huge part of why they have become f.x criminals and violent themselves?
None of that seems relevant in this family’s case.

There will a be a 4 week long trial where evidence for and against the allegations will be presented.
Before the allegations became public, I personally did not believe the rumours. I simply could not fathom that any father could use this kind of physical and psychological abuse in a modern society, but after reading the comments from the apologists here on LR, I see that the old ways still exist (mainly in M@G@-land and in Africa), and it becomes believable that this kind of abuse can happen in Sandnes (Hillbilly-Norway) too .
The thread is obviously an opportunity for those who favour the physical abuse of children to have their say.

Very hard to know. -The upper limit for the indictment is 6 years imprisonment, but nobody expects anything like that.
The lower limit might be expected to be one year imprisonment, since a less serious indictment (that clearly was viewed as too “light”) has this as the upper limit, but in reality / theory a conviction could result in an even shorter imprisonment than one year. Some would maybe think that a fine would be the only reaction, but given your premise that Gjert is found guilty in all he is charged with, this seems unlikely… And Norwegian legislators have stressed that these kinds of cases must be taken more seriously / give harsher consequences for the offender…
I am just basing the above on what “experts” have written in the press, so feel free to correct me if I have gotten anything wrong. And when it comes to other reactions from the courts than imprisonment we know that sometimes there are convictions that give quite large compensation amounts from the perpetrator to the victims. And that the burden of proof in extra civil cases is not as strict as in the criminal ones…
And there’s also this: The Norwegian Athletics Association has started a process to evaluate the possibility / need of denying Gjert further coaching credentials/allowance, even prior to the court case.
you can confirm what you did see, but you can't contradict what may not have been done in front of you. so not as strong.
So if Tone testifies that she never saw her husband hit their kids, never saw their kids with any marks of abuse, and never saw their kids show any fear toward their father, that wouldn’t lower your percentage of belief in Jakob’s allegations?

Threatening to beat someone senseless is a lot less than towel slaps. I'm not sure how you can think it is more. One is words the other is physicality.
You can see on this thread/forum how weak the current generation is, and they were raised by parents who had mostly stopped disciplining their children. What does that tell you? Weak parenting makes weak people.
