That is the current state of affairs. It’s not a “solution.”
A trans boy is a boy. So him competing in the boys/men category is what we already have.
You are the one who is saying, “well actually he’s not a boy because he was born with no male sex organs.” Who cares? He’s still a boy. He’s a boy at home, boy when he goes to school, boy when he uses the bathroom. He should still be a boy when he runs the 4x800 or throws the shot.
i think most would agree that what we typically think of as the "men's" divisions can operate as OPEN divisions.
but the female division is protected. it is females only. (xx)
In my experience as a coach and teacher, I can tell you that the overwhelming amount of athletes, coaches, and parents (the ones who are 1st- or 2nd-handedly affected by this) want trans folks to be able to compete in their chosen gender. It is such a basic understanding for them to say, “Oh yeah, Britney is a girl, so she’s on the girl’s team.” I’m not going to lie and say their aren’t a few very loud anti-trans coaches and parents that say some pretty hateful stuff, but once that person is gone, there is a large majority that all talk about how misguided they are.
HUMAN LIFE should not be dependent on being able to participate in girls sports. Mental health can not be contingent on getting whatever you want.
Similar advice for cis girls then: nothing about their participating in some silly running around games is important enough for society to exclude trans girls.
but the numbers stack up in their favor. that's life.
minor leaguers don't compete against major leaguers. college doesn't compete with pros. girls don't compete against boys. UNLESS they want to. we categorize for a reason.

you're in a bubble, Lenny. The polls make it clear where America stands on this. It's WAY outside the margin for error.

I’m not aware of any such moral or legal principle. If it existed, we would still be lynching blacks and gays.
What gender are you? Are you a man, or a woman? Because news flash, whichever you just chose is what YOU identify as. Which according to you, it "is weak, nobody really cares about some fantasy you might have." That's all it is. A fantasy. As you said, "It's all about real life". In in real life, gender is not boy or girl. Gender is so much more, and while you may believe that anything else is a fantasy, YOU are the one living in a fantasy.
So wrong it's comical. When you were born you were one of two things a boy or a girl that will never ever ever ever change. You can identify as anything ya want but you will never ever change what you actually are,
Rookies sheesh~~~~~~~~~
It’s not exactly news based on all your chest-thumpingly “courageous” posts using your real registered handle that you score low on cerebral capacity, but just for the record, you probably don’t even realize that your bolded statement above is a tautology and therefore meaningless; and you probably will have to look up what a tautology is.

it's not a moral or legal principle. it's the principle of "you need numbers to make something work"
obviously, there are enough XXs out there for there to be interest and participation levels that make it make sense. once you have that, you make rules and divisions that align with people's ideals for balanced competition.

unnecessary or redundant are not synonyms for meaningless.

I’m not advocating for more than the two existing categories or believe that it will solve the problem of transphobia underlying this topic. We have enough room for both cis and trans women in the women’s category. There is no problem with that.

My “bubble” is that I actively work in sports every day. You choose to ignore that and include the views of every slack-jawed yokel.
The closer you get to the issue, the more positive view of trans athletes. Female athletes are more favorable towards inclusion than male athletes. Athletes in general are more favorable towards inclusion than non-athletes. School- and college-aged people are more favorable towards inclusion than older people.
Similar to the abortion issue, I’m more prone to support the positions of those with a more direct stake in the matter.

The tautology is that bumpkin’s entire argument. Remove it and all you are left with is “You can identify as anything ya want”, which sounds way too transympathetic for that transphobe.
No, people form opinions based on, in this case, facts and science. It is not hate or a phobia to understand and state the scientific fact that there are only two sexes and that they are different in physical characteristics.
Keep telling yourself that. It's very arrogant that you think you form your opinions based on facts. science. mathematics. As if your opinions have any validity to them. Then you say stuff to put others down and hurt them act self rigeous and think you understand everything when you don't.
we will make an added division for sports and call it the "coed" division. many sports have coed leagues for adults, where men and women play together. everyone can play, no one freaks out about boys and girls same field.
trans? gay? wheelchair/handicapped? special olympics? bored of being stuck on JV and just want something different? varsity says there's no room left? got a little rebel in you? go "coed."
it solves so many things and it'd probably be a joy to watch. we play 1 more soccer or whatever team game in addition to varsity and JV. we add a heat or so to events at track meets, when coed kids want to enter.
and if the bigots oppose it and start ranting again, their pure as driven snow 10th placing daughter is clearly safe in "girls," we have removed that excuse, and it's crystal clear they are just being bigots trying to make certain kids' life hell.
It’s not a solution if both sides would be against it, and it would not be a joy to watch. You would be lucky to have more than a couple of athletes show up for an event.

This violates the 14th amendment. "Girls don't compete against boys. Unless they want to." However, you claim that the opposite is false. This is discrimination against transgender girls (even if you claim them to be boys it is discrimination against boys) which is discrimination on the basis of gender. That is against the Constitution of the United States.

because boys sports are essentially open. GIRLS are not. they made separate girls sports for a very good reason.
BIOLOGY.
you can try to logic this anyway you want. ITS NOT WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT.

there are A LOT of people here who work in sports every day who have a different experience than you.
In fact, it is the people outside of sports, who don't understand competition, who are more likely to be on the side of inclusion.
the numbers are the numbers. im glad you've found like minded people to surround yourself with though.

there was no tautology.
Then maybe you also need to look it up and educate yourself.

At the high school level, at least in California, boys divisions are NOT open divisions. Females are not allowed to run in them. Trans athletes of either gender have the same requirements in order to compete in the gender of their choice. If it is not what the people want, then why is it a law? Even if the people do not directly vote on these laws, they vote for the people who do vote for these laws. Just because there are more people against trans who are very outspoken than people who are for trans who are outspoken, those who are for trans still largely outweigh those who don't believe in equality.
