Ellie Shea is sure struggling more than I thought she would coming into the NCAA (based on all her International experience for team USA in the Junior competitions).
Moved from 48th at 3k to 29th finish, actually gave NC State a chance and passed a couple ND girls late. Looks like she was 2nd amongst 18/19 year-old freshmen
definitely the best race she's had in the NCAA. NC State just doesn't have the depth with injuries and losing so much.
Notre Dame is a very impressive program year after year (top 7 at the last 3 natty's), crazy that this is their first conference title in that run

She did a good job for sure, I was just thinking she’d have a bigger impact right off the bat.
NOTE: The 1:41 spread for the women is NOT good. They’ve stayed over 1:00 spread all season. They won’t be in contention whatsoever at Natty’s (and that’s a massive fan saying this!). Bummer.

Seems like a fitness issue. At 3.1k, the NC State women had a :28 spread, and were in 2nd place. And then the 3-5 women just seemed to gas out and it went to 1:41 spread. That’s HORRIBLE.
On a totally random note: it's funny to see Juliette Whittaker go from the Olympic finals to 117th at ACCs. Props to her for sticking through it, though.
Great race for Martin his best ever XC race shall see if he can get the 10k distance
by the way his form is never changing and as good as he is , could be a limiter.
huge engine good wherld
Hansen struuggled
I thought Wolfe would win unless hurt previouslyb
its possible they didn't measure right this year but its a pretty known course run on a lot every year for 5k's. Its just a fast course, the whole thing is very well maintained hardpacked dirt or gravel and the "hill" isn't steep at all its just long.
compare the course maps showing 5k mark for men and 3k mark for women
Great run today from Gary Martin. I have to think there is something going on with Parker Wolfe. He went down after the finish and may be dealing with something.

Smith fell at the top of the hill with about 100 m to go, and then I think fell again right before finishing which did not help. Just exhausted. She did finish strong coming off final hill.

Oh wow!
Hopefully cyclonwolf posts the race on the YouTube channel so we can evaluate and enjoy the race by seeing it!
I get ACCN and ACCN+ in my cable package and could not believe how Martin left Wolfe and Strand in his wake over the last mile. According to the stats, Martin was 18:50 at 6.5K and 22:17 at 8K. That is 3:27 for the last 1500m if these times are accurate.

I am not familiar with the Duke women's roster, but someone please tell me that was their B team or even C team! If that's the A squad, that's terrible . . . Last place, behind Miami . . . There are high school teams in North Carolina who would beat Miami . . . unless there is another explanation for that performance (like all have food poisoning or something)

I can't imagine many other Olympians bothering to run xc for their school. That indicates to me that she loves to run and loves her team. Kudos!
Parker and Rocky have both been ill. Hope both get well soon and are at full strength down the stretch. The decision to pull JoJo’s redshirt saved the day for Wake. They finish third without him in the lineup. He was the top frosh by 28 seconds in a loaded conference.

So many idiots predicted that NC Staye would beat Stanford. NC State is no longer relevant.
It’s short-term during the rebuild.
I personally; however, DID think they’d be better than this. It’s been surprising all season long with their massive spread.
Stephens being out has hurt them. Hartman & Gapes are solid. I’m surprised that Rauber was back as far as she was. They’re still relevant and they’ll be back.
