Colin Sahlman was one of the best HS cross country runners ever. Smith just keeps talent going with high mileage at altitude. He does a bad job individualizing training. This is why Colin is not a top cross country runner in the NCAA.
Smith has altitude and crap academics and that makes his job easy. With his bro voice he won’t fool anyone as a pro coach.
Right, but recruiting is far more important than training and living at altitude. Smith does just fine with talented runners like Young.
Sahlman has run 1:45.6 and is a 1500/5000m guy. The NCAA XC Championships are not within his range.
Colin should be in the top 20. This is a bad development job

i dont know if id say bad development job considering his 1500 performances last spring.
But it is curious how he cant translate his talent to the 10k considering other 1500 guys like Strand, Murphy and Martin all can and were all top 13 today.
