Except that the difference is that Hezbollah intentionally targets Israeli civilians. That is their purpose, to kill civilians to instill terror, which is why Hezbollah has been deemed a terrorist organization.
Isreal's operation here directly targeted Hezbollah terrorists. Hezbollah used the pagers, because they are just passive receivers and do not emit a signal that can be traced. This is all to hide, because they are plotting their terrorist acts. By Israel infiltrating the pagers Hezbollah uses, they are directly targeting active terrorists and not targeting innocent civilians.

That's absolutely incredible. Ted Kaczynski would be proud. I am reading that Israel most likely put explosives inside the pagers before shipping which seems most likely to me. I can't imagine a modern pager being designed so badly that its lithium ion battery can explode from intentional overheating. There are just too many safeguards in place to hack all of them and somehow still have a functional device. These explosions would be a regular occurrence around the world if they were caused by overheating.
