So taxing unrealized capital gains and scaling corporate taxes will not crash the economy?
This will hurt the middle class, and will result in more roles being outsourced, either to third world countries or automation where possible.
I just can’t stand people who say the other party is negative in every aspect just because they vote against them. Frankly, the right needs to get abortion right, but the left needs to get economics, border and the issues between women versus trans rights correct.
I have a daughter, and disagree with the right on abortion, but also disagree with the left on fiscal policies and prioritizing trans over women. The border issue has become pretty obvious.
In regards to abortion, I wish there could be a moderate stance/option, but we only have two parties as legitimate options.
Apartheid South African who 99% still acts like the people who made the worst government in the world goes straight to a high powered US government job.
Also, his companies survived only because they receive government subsidies. He took all those and then ran home with his hundreds of billions while firing everyone else.
What is more efficient than hiring directly someone from the least successful government in the world and paying government money for him to take by himself and fire all the American employees?

How would a capital gains minimum tax on the ultra wealthy (> $100M net worth) hurt the middle class, specifically?
Ah, yes, removing anyone with institutional knowledge and actual expertise and installing a bunch of incompetent sycophants to positions of power, what could possibly go wrong?
You live in the fantasy world where Washington Elites are wise and thoughtful, not scheming grifters with irrelevant pet projects.
What could possibly go wrong if they stick around? That's what you should ask. We already know; they push us towards WWIII, make it impossible for people to afford buying a home, gas , or groceries, and pilfer social security in an intergenerational ponzi scheme. And by the way these experts are always wrong but are still considered experts for some reason. Washington is the only environment where that's the case.
Lesss expensive than a Lincoln Navigator? That supposed to be an incentive to the struggling consumer? They want to encourage the regular citizen to get aboard one of these wonderful boats, then theyll make them actually affordable not "affordable" in the advertising sense.
The left's turn on Elon is a bit wild. He runs multiple billion dollar companies. He was integral in the formation and sale of PayPal. He is successfully launching and landing rockets with SpaceX.
He is the first person in the US to successfully challenge the Big 3 American car companies with Tesla, and I think the market cap is larger than those 3 combined (last time I checked).
Yes, he's blunt and maybe a little arrogant, but he's one of the few that really back it up.
I'm not sure how I feel about this role, but there certainly is a lot of waste in the US government. I completely understand why half the country hates Trump, but I don't get why they hate Elon except for the fact the he associates with Trump.
Tesla's market cap does not reflect the actual size of the business, it's a meme stock. Besides will Elon have time for this? He's the CEO of 5 comoanies and spends 50% of his day tweeting and playing video games. While also finding time to impregnate his employees. Where does he find the energy?
lol gonna be hard for Trump to hire anyone to do anything when he's behind bars the rest of his life. Elon is basically as deranged as Trump these days. Tesla is getting worse and worse and he ran Twitter into the ground. "Efficiency" for looney toon egomaniacs like Trump and Musk means firing anyone competent, surrounding yourself with yes men, and running everything into the ground, and talking out your ass the entire time blaming everyone else for their own insanity and failures.
In Trump's presidency he created a huge swamp of corruption in DC politics, the only goal of hiring Musk would be to add one more crazy person to the swamp. But luckily when Trump loses the election again all his criminals trials will keep going ahead and he'll die in prison which is the only just outcome for what he's done.

Y'all are twisting the point. The point is not that everyone should be able to afford a Cyber Truck, but that the left has demonized a vehicle because of who makes it. You're an evil right winger if you drive one because it is so expensive. I have also seen a lot of this talk on my social media feeds b/c most of my friends are very left. I looked around after seeing this article on Duran Duran and found this other post:
The point above is that the Cyber Truck is not THAT much more than other high-end SUVS. In fact, it is less expensive than a dang Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Sure, they are all overpriced hunks of junk, but at least the CT is a unique and electric one. Just an interesting look into the thinking of the left. Would you be "dragged" online for posting a picture in front of a Jeep Grand Wagoneer? Would bloggers refer to you as an "out-of-touch dipsh:t?"
I am not a Cyber Truck fan or even a Tesla fan. I just see the weird human behavior and find it amusing/interesting.

On the other hand it seems like a stunningly bad idea for Musk as the face of Tesla to have become an overtly political figure. It can't have surprised anyone that aliening a large part of Tesla's market wasn't going to go well.
It seems like, despite their CEO's actions, Tesla has had no trouble selling a lot of their vehicles to this day. I still see Teslas everywhere, and now I'm seeing cybertrucks on a regular basis.

I think you're correct, but as the other guy said, it doesn't seem to be hurting sales. Also, what CEO isn't political in 2024? At least he seems sincere.
Americans do not need a pickup truck that can go 0-60 in 2.6 seconds that weighs nearly 7000 lbs. There is already an epidemic of pedestrian deaths in the US and larger, heavier vehicles are one of the primary reasons for that. Never mind the danger it poses to people in other cars. 40k/year preventable deaths via automobiles, about as many as guns, and we're doing nothing to fix the problem. In fact, we're making it worse.
Let me guess, you think that arming teachers will stop school shootings, don't you?
While pedestrian safety is a valid concern, and I don't care for these trucks either, you're not putting this genie back in the bottle. People like driving trucks and the industry is going to provide them with trucks they want, whether you want them to or not.
let alone - how dumb can you be throwing your hands in the air and saying 'well we've created a monster nothing we can do now just make things worse and worse i guess!'
things can and do change for the better, but not with attitudes like yours
Good luck recreating the Netherlands' late 20th century history to the letter in the much larger, much more economically powered, much less socialized United States.

who said anything about 'to the letter'
you moaned about how things can't change
I pointed how how they do
You're better off saying nothing than moaning how things are awful and going to stay that way
Here is my prophecy: Elon will be the republican candidate for presidency in 2028, will win by a large margin but still quickly become one of the most hated president of the US of A, to the point he won't even win the republican primary in 2032. At least that's his plan, until the hated part and all that follows, which probably are not part of the plan but will still happen because of who he is.
