You are responding to the former sporting director (who seems to base his reactions on “Beat my countryman” instead of the presumptive correct “You can beat my countryman”). The current Norwegian athletics sporting director is saying that Narve Nordås has done nothing wrong, and that there will be no sanctions from the National Federation. They regard Narves greating to Kerr as a natural and polite saying…

Yes it seems overblown. Nordas did seem a little *too* thrilled to congratulate Kerr post-race. But again, Narve is a strange dude and given the history is it that crazy for him to hope that Kerr would take down Jakob?

There is no way Josh Cur can beat Jakob

Nordås - and his teammates - would do very well to just keep quiet.

Back when Narve appeared, and before the domestic abuse charges against Gjert, he seemed like a likeable guy.

Post-domestic abuse, both him and his teammates seem entirely too preoccupied with being Gjerts public defenders, rather than being athletes. The drama they're causing around this even hurts Narve's performances - as shown lately by his Euro performance.

Despite what you choose to believe about the domestic abuse case around Gjert, the abhorrent disloyalty against both himself and Norway shown today isn't doing anyone a favor - if Narve had just bl**dy concentrated on running the race, instead of spreading mud and talking s**t, he would have been much closer to being a medal contender than he is now.

He may, or may not like Jakob, and I don't really care, but he's both being disloyal to Norway, and to himself.

Both him and Per Svela need a competent media advisor, so they don't waste any energy on stuff like this.

(For those of you that aren't Norwegian speakers, the line between "beat my countryman" and "you can beat my countryman" is very much thinner than the hairline of someone that doesn't have hair left)

So you read "them" and not just one in order to make that decision. What you don't know is that other posters find yours similarly irrelevant and probably pass yours by. I only read yours to gauge the lower level of comment here.

By Nordic standards though, he is actually very gregarious and friendly. Also remember that English is not his first language.

The problem isn't his facility with language but what he is saying.

So is it going to be similarly argued that with Njordas the controversy is due to his lack of familiarity with English?

Jakob is such a prick even his own countrymen are rooting against him.

imagine if your dad did some (allegedly) horrible, unforgivable stuff. And then a fellow up and coming star decides to go and train with him. And now you have to start seeing your estranged dad again at all these events. And then people start calling you a bully for disliking the fact that he inserted himself into your family business. And he starts announcing to the world that your dad did nothing wrong, despite knowing nothing. Anyway, messy all around and I feel for all of them, including Nordas. Tricky position to be in!

Side note- how badly would Jakob have smacked that 10k field today? Would have been his easiest championship medal thus far.

Narve isn’t the one causing drama. Jakob and his brothers caused the drama by making a private family matter public, tarnishing their father’s name in the papers, and Henrik bullying Narve.

Stop trying to make Narve out to be the bad guy here. He’s not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Narve took the lead and picked up the pace, from 400-900 protecting Jakob from leading too long in the race. You really believe Nerve would help Josh? We will see the truth on August 6th. Or Jakob will want to prove that he can lead from 300m to the finish line. 3rd option Kenyans in the lead, but I don't believe it. The 4th variant, different from these three would be a surprise for everyone, I think. Maybe someone believes Josh Kerr will lead the 1000m or so, good luck with that.
