A slight correction - Tual's PB before this year was at the 2022 Paris DL of 1:44.23 - 4th in a 1:43.75 race won by Robert. Also Tual was crushed by Sedjati in Ostrava in late May then he's clearly found something winning Euros, French champs and now this performance, hard to comprehend tbh
I'm wondering if we'll see any more of Koitatoi Kidali before the Olympics, somehow I'm not as confident of him making then final as Kemei and Ngeno both have looked good after the trials but then again maybe Kidali would have been right up there today too
Yeah this is all fair. I think he just hadn’t had a breakthrough race. He ran Paris (1:44.23) right after 1:44.30 at Paavo Nurmi. I guess your PB is your PB. I’ve always regarded him slightly higher than the PBs. Monaco 800m is interesting. I wonder if there’s a shakeup in the entries. If I were their coaches, I’d pull Sedjati and Wanyonyi back.
Kidali and Hoppel would benefit from a start in Monaco IMO.
