I watched the first episode this afternoon. I appreciated the following:
- Learning about Lyles’ childhood issues with asthma, which had him spend many nights in the hospital - I would have liked to learn even more about that, and how it affected him mentally. Is his bravado today something he developed as a coping/survival mechanism?
- Seeing all the memorabilia that Lyles’s mother has saved, including the home pregnancy test that told her Noah would be coming! I also appreciated Noah acknowledging that he wouldn’t be where he is today without his mother.
- Getting a look at how becoming Olympic champion catapulted Marcell Jacobs to celebrity status overnight
- Marcell Jacobs’ family: the stress his wife feels when he races, and his son asking why he lost a race
- Seeing the athletes staying at the same hotel and using the same catering; I can’t imagine boxers or football players doing this
- Hearing a bit from both Lyles and Jacobs about how important confidence is for them; apparently it’s easy for sprinters to get psyched out
Looking forward to watching more.
