I was responding to another poster who referred to him. But tell me without telling me how much the trivial matters to you.
You got the name wrong and it was funny when the other poster alluded to the Spanish king. But tell me without telling me that you don't have a sense of humour.

I got downvoted by stating a fact. The first leg of the 400m is short. The start line is not the same as the 400m start line. It’s further up to account for three curves of stagger, making the first leg short and not given an official split.
The guy stating the first leg of a 4 x 400m is short is 100 % correct. The start line for the 4 x 400m adjusts for three cures, of which the first runner only runs two. If you have actually raced the 400m and run lead off for the 4 x 400m you would know this.

If that is so it means the other runners are going further than 400 because the full distance for the relay is 1600m. Yet the times officially given for all the splits are for the same distance - it is a given that each runner runs 400m, the first leg is never "asterisked" as a shorter distance (which would mean someone else is covering extra distance).

This doesn't make sense. The first handoff is not at the finish line, it's staggered. The first runner goes past the finish line before they hand off. Put another way, the second runner starts with a one-turn stagger so they only run 400m, not farther.
World athletics meets have the technology to give each runner splits, but most meets can’t accurately generate 4 x 400m splits due to the three curve stagger, where the first runner has to run two curves in lanes and the 2nd runner only runs one curve in lanes. However, the first runner gets the start line adjusted for a three curves. The 4 x 400m start line is not the same start line for the 400m. Relay spits are relay splits. They can be off by a second or more.

it's not 400 meters to the finish line, but they do run 400 meters, handing off sometimes well into the third turn, depending on their lane. you get their 400 meter split from the middle of the exchange zone, where the 2nd runner's split begins.

they are only off by a second or more if you have a moron with a stopwatch. anybody with a clue will get it within around .25.
It also depends on where in the zone the runners exchange the baton. Smart teams will have faster runners run further by working the exchange zone limits. Some runners might run as far as 415 meters and others as short as 385 meters. The exchange zone is 20 meters. There’s room to work it to your team’s advantage, especially at high school and college level where there’s a bigger difference in ability on teams.
Relay splits are really splits. They are not FAT 400 times.
