This Kerr interview contains nothing new or noteworthy other than a letsrun reference.
I disagree with this. it could have been that Kerr got carried away talking to the sunday plodcast when he said the stuff about Jakob being surrounded by yes men. Alex Lum and Max Seddon are well known and seem popular amoung UK athletes. he may have been showing off to his mates but one month later. at an event for a sponsor, at an arranged interview, after LRC blew the pod, up he decided to double down on his comments when he could have said nothing or defused them.
He either believed them, and wants Jakob to know its what he thinks or he wants to get under Jakobs skin.
1. JK is telegraphing to any and all coaches, agents etc that he is a complete pain in the arse to work with. 2. He is just setting himself up to look like an ass_hole. Eventually, he will lose, fade, and be another person. 3. My prediction: When he is 50, he will be a bloated functional alcoholic (if not earlier) droning on about his past accomplishments.
He is training to be another Yob on a barstool at the end of the room who you wish would shut up and go home.
Kerr is still butt hurt by Jakob’s epic “just the next guy” put down at world’s. Jakob’s nonchalant and matter of fact quip has led Kerr to be in a 6 month long temper tantrum. It’s a bad look for Kerr, he’s just trying too hard to sound hard. Jakob tosses out these barbs like flicking ashes off a cigarette.
Roll the tape:
Interviewer: Would you be open to racing Kerr again? Up for some revenge or..? Jakob: "No. H-h-he was just the next guy. So if I hadn't run in the final he would probably have won. That's how I see the race. Obviously if you're - if you stumble and fall...someone...someone is going to win the race. He was just the next guy."

Didn't you recently post that you only used anonymous names on political posts?! Are you admitting that you post often on many threads with an anonymous name??? :)
Bro is still yapping about Jakob... And why is this interviewer calling it a "great rivalry"? Jakob is 12-2 against Kerr in 1500 with one of losses being a heat. Jakob's only rival so far is Timothy Cheruiyot.
Bragging rights. He holds the championship belt until he doesn't.

You mean the Olympic Championship belt (the belt everyone really wants) run in the Olympic record time, or the World Championship belt? (great belt but not and never will be as prestigious as the aforementioned).
That is why Kerr is a clown - his logic is simply flawed. Do you think if Jakob wins in Paris to join Coe as the only back to back champion, he will give any semblance of a flying f--k about Budapest? And to the point of the post you replied to, I don't hear Jakob giving interviews and making public statements about this Josh Kerr self-manufactured "beef" between them. He is coming off like a fool.

I've never seen a news source that fellates itself more than letsrun. If an athlete mentions it in an interview, it's guaranteed front page news. This Kerr interview contains nothing new or noteworthy other than a letsrun reference.
Because this site is full of Brits ... every runner of their country is raised to the rank of God. Perfect, no doping, educated, polite ... etc.
Everything else is evil, doper, cheater ...
And they are not alone, they have Australian and New Zélandais to add to their league.
You are getting downvoted because of who you are, but you made an excellent point. The idiots downvote you even when you’re right, which is not that often, but it should be recognized.
He's sticking to his guns re:Jacob. still not ruling out world indoors.
Plenty of Let's Run references.
Sounds like a boxer. Good interview
LRC note: The original title of this thread was "Good Josh Kerr interview." We changed it to note his quote about LetsRun.
Sigh. I personally think Josh Kerr is a phenomenal athlete - he's the reigning world champion and Olympic medalist in one of the toughest events in the sport - just a great talent who is already in the history books.
But dude, why go out of your way to sound like an absolute tw@t and be so unlikeable, because that is exactly what he is doing.
Just to be be clear, on the 23rd of August last year you were the best athlete in world over 1500m, the same way on the 19th of July 2022 Jake Wightman was and the same way Jakob was on the day of the Tokyo 1500m final. One race doesn't definitively make you the best championship runner in the world at any event, in that case Wightman could say "hey well I was injured and wasn't even there so it's still me" or Jakob could say "but the DL finals are also championship races and I won there so it's really me" - it's just as stupid thing to say with so many flaws.
Sadly for Josh he's coming off as extremely unconfident and insecure vs what he's trying to come across as. He doesn't need to validate his excellence - he's done it on the track. I don't really believe anyone has invalidated him at all - including Ingebrigtsen. It's also ironic he has taken some high road here of manners (very British thing to do) when he's coming off as the one with "manner" issues.
I know some people revel in this "Muhammad Ali" inter-rival conflict stuff - personally I find it contrived, overplayed and nauseating.

Okay so while you do explain well how you found it contrived, overplayed and nauseating I don't think Josh is going out of his way to smear Jakob in any way. Instead, as a world champion he is frequently required to give monthly or even fortnightly media interviews with The Guardian, BBC, NYT or whatever. It's the journalists and reporters who come haranguing and accosting him for comments and opinions about everything under the sky, he didn't go knocking on their doors asking to give his opinions, right???
It's different if you are requested by the King or Queen of England to do them a favor then if you force your way through their front gate and knock aggressively on their doors offering them your services, right???
It's also different if 100 people you don't know come knocking on your door and giving you lots of praise for your skills than if you paid 100 people to write fake reviews on social media about how good you are, right?
So if Josh Kerr is asked to meet the media due to media obligations to give his comments and updates on his training or whatever and he proceeds to dish 'hate' on Jakob then it's not really 'original hate' in its purest most pre-meditated form, right? It's an opportunistic kinda hate because he was first presented with an advantageous situation to dish out 'hate' in a non pre-meditated format by his media obligations and even by a specific provocation by the journalist Sean Ingle!!!
Thank you all! As usual, you can see why the angle I bring to any subject on this planet is always so peerless!!!

Pretty simple - the Championship belt holder gets to talk $hit until he no longer holds it
Pretty simple - the Championship belt holder gets to talk $hit until he no longer holds it
Of course he gets to talk shxt, being a world champ and all -we only misses some shxt that is in accordance with reality… (see my list elsewhere over how many championships Jakob has won compared to Kerr’s one and only)…
Americans are a bit of an odd bunch. Brashest people on the planet one minute, arbitrarily moaning about others smack talking the next.
This guy became world champion, and immediately had the butch lesbian cosplayer discredit his accomplishments, call him a ‘JAG’, and then drone on about being ill.
Kerr isn’t having any of it. And, frankly, holding the World Championship title, he has every right to talk smack to Jakob.
