She ran 15:08 last year after Coburn stepped off of the track at 3600m in 10:56 (15:11 pace). Not sure how the race shook out in 2021.
In 2021 Rodenfels was the pacer and decided to stay in the race. She closed her final 200m in 30s. Valby will need to drop her because if she is having a good day and there with 400m to go I think she will win again.
Overall Rodenfels has been on an upswing recently, but she is not always consistent. Should make for a good race though.

She is headed to Bass Pro on Saturday rather than get embarassed yet again. Valby hasn't lost a race in more than 6 months while Tuohy lost every major race.
This. Valby will just take the lead early if the pacers are too slow.
Then why would her coach not request or demand faster pace?
Maybe the coach cares more about keeping her healthy than about the win. I won't be surprised if she is wearing her "trainers" like she did at regionals and stays behind the pacer. That race was equivalent to about a 15:10.
Florida's goal is the team win at indoor SEC and nationals. Valby hasn't run the last two years. They need her points.
Valby doesn't trust her kick, and she runs to win. I think she's 100% healthy (if not she won't run). As in XC she will go out at her best sustainable pace. I think that is about 36 sec per lap. And the last lap will be faster.
Let me translate suferboy posts. 36 sec per lap is exactly 15:00. Parker puts a 34 sec last lap and she would have the world standard 14:58. With Rodenfels winning that road race not sure Parker beats her. The world std is an important benchmark for Parker.
