College XC seems really pointless from a preparing to be an elite athlete in the near future perspective. Fine for hobby joggers who want the camaraderie of competing for their college and running with their friends but a waste of time for an athlete who should be experiencing the European circuit instead.
Look at Laros for an athlete not wasting their time in academic competition.
Most us runners, ie Fisher, Klecker, Nuguse, Purrier, Cranny, Schweizer finish college first and then turn pro. Very few collegians are Good enough to be thinking about pro races in Europe. Both Touhy and Wiley could run quite well at Olympic trials next year 8and still not make the Paris Olympic team.
Skipping college to run pro is always an option, but it quite often does not work out. Cain, Efraimson, Watson, Hunter, Kessler so far. Generally runners and their parents prefer the ncaa route.
There is a possibility that Touhy skips indoor and outdoor college track to focus on trials and 24 summer pro meets, we'll see.
