Yes, it will be a pretty simple race for Wiley. There are so many fast women in the race that Wiley will just tuck in back and try to hang on as long as she can.
I hope you don’t mean tuck in back of the pack. I think she needs to tuck-in, but near the front. That may be in the minds of a lot of the racers though, so that first 250m could be interesting.
And therein lies the problem. Many a fast elite has burnt the candle a bit too hot in that first 250m, costing there placement when it comes to that final 100m.
She ran 4:26 1600 in HS so she essentially hasn't had any improvement.
A 4:26.1 for 1600 m is equivalent to a 4:27.7 mile, and the 4:03.3 1500 m this year is more like 4:21.8 for the mile, so a 6 second improvement so far. And that'll be more like 8 to 10 (12 seconds? 18? Why not?) after Friday if it goes as expected based on the recent 800 m breakthrough.

Near the front?!?! No way. She'll run out of gas. Those women are really quick. Better for Wiley stay in the back against the rail.

I foresee a potential “Indian Run” style string-out. She should find a place on the rail, but by the time of the bell, is hopefully up in the top 4, aye?

This assumes it’s being paced for a fast one, maybe even with pace lights. If that is the case, she should be able to find a place on the rail by 300m in, and hopefully not too many bodies back. True, a lot of them have good PB’s, but that does not mean they are currently in-form, like Wiley.
I asked about said ex poster and thread got deleted in about 20 seconds! I just laugh. Seriously though, he needed to go, but so does the other half of the equation in this back and forth that has gone on for the past 4 or 5 months.

Unless Snowden miraculously comes in 1st or 2nd, the results of this race will not affect the Top 15 that qualify for the DL Final.
I’m going with 3:58.54. There’s always a chance she’ll go out too fast the first couple laps and blow up, but I’m hoping not. There’s lots of women with a high 3:50’s PB she can run behind.

I didn’t consider that if Wiley miraculously comes in 1st or 2nd, she would probably make the DL Final, if 2nd, and definitely, if 1st.
