Josh can talk all the sh*t he can, in the big picture Jakob has as many golds as he has and more total medals at this world championship. He beat Jakob for the first time ever, but lets see if he consistently beats him now or will this one race be the highlight of his track career.
YOU MISSED THE POINT
Jacob is a cocky SOB that feels like he can’t be beat. Josh proved him wrong. That is the whole point. If Jacob never loses again, Josh still proved him wrong. It is not a matter of who is the better athlete or who has the better career. Josh proved him wrong.
Three pages into this thread and nobody has stated the obvious: Jakob came back and won gold in the 5,000 a few days later.
So he wound up with a silver (very narrowly) in a race he led most of and got outkicked at the very end, then doubled back with a gold in a race that was at a minimum just as competitive (several sub-12:42 guys).
Sure, he talks a lot and deserves to get a little heat when he loses. He's welcomed that. But for Kerr to keep going on and on like he's suddenly got Jakob's number is absurd -- between the two of them, Jakob obviously had the more successful World Champs.
Gold + Silver >> Gold
How about Kerr doubles next year in Paris and sees how much hardware he can take home?

Kerr isn't interested in who won the 5k. He wasn't running it. But he did beat the guy who won the 5k.

Remind me where Kerr is “going on like he’s suddenly got Jakob’s number”? He responded to a couple of questions in post-race interviews, that’s it. This Instagram post was clearly made by David Ribich.
Bizarre how this board is constantly attacking nearly every successful runner but gets wound up about any criticism of Jakob.
Back when athletes did not talk trash, track was 100x bigger than it is today. Everybody knew Bannister and Landy and Ryun, without any trolling.
Not that I really care about what Kerr does, but I do reject the idea that trah talking is either an inevitable or even useful part of athletics.
And the mode of transport was horse and buggy and coal propelled trains. What's your point?
He expressed his point, that a sport that people cared about didn't need trash talking to draw their interest. It had nothing to do with buggies but you didn't get it.
I'm a Jakob fan, as much as anyone. But if you're knowingly going to choose an event you admit isn't your best, and you're still going to trash talk, and then on top of that make excuses when you lose, that deserves some trash talking back.
It's a sign of immaturity, as far as I'm concerned to focus on an event you know isn't what you're best suited for. Didn't he say he's probably best suited for the half marathon? Then why isn't he running it? Why focus on 1500-5000m? Why not 5K to HM? Some things we have to learn the hard way.
Immaturity.
Why talk trash when you win and make excuses when you lose?
Meh, it’s just the vibe of the sit and kick podcast. Their demographic is high school boys- nothing more and nothing less. Dave seems like a goofy guy that seems to sort of worship Kerr- Kerr seems like a dude that couldn’t care less if he ever spoke with Dave again. It’s an odd relationship. Kerr is all about what is best for Kerr.
Dave comes across as a socially anxious nerd on the podcast. It's the oddest dynamic. Banter is completely unnatural for Ribich, as shown in these highschool-tier memes.
I like Josh, but David Ribitch is the worst podcast host of all time and literally just talks a mile a minute without others having a single word. Dude needs to shut up and listen. Extra af.
