I saw her in person once at a PT facility. I didn’t know who she was at the time. When she walked in, I said to myself, “She’s gotta be a model.”
I’d bet her looks are a bigger factor in her deal than her performance in races only a minuscule percentage of the Lulu customers even know exists.
Which is exactly why her deal is not just about her looks. Models don’t cost anywhere near what she’s being paid for for the amount they use her image, unless they are a well known face.
the fact is, even as a model or an influencer, she is being wildly overpaid by LuluLemon, and of course they had expectations of her to race, the same as they expect Leylah Fernandez to play tennis.
She probably is overpaid the same way all distance runners are overpaid. None of them put asses in the seats or eyes in front of the screen.
Her selling point is that she has fashion model looks and an “Olympian” credential. I doubt anyone at LuLu even knows there’s a track meet going on. No one other than running nerds knows. It’s not even in the same solar system as Wimbledon or the US Open.
I'd like to know what happened between her and Nike...
She’s done interviews where she said that she left Nike because she felt that Nike lowballed her renewal contract. I remembered that’s what she said that to the Citius guys.

I'd like to know what happened between her and Nike...
From what I heard based on multiple accounts and conversations with people in the sport:
Quigley wanted a big salary bump and far more money than Nike was willing to pay. She also voiced concerns over being able to pursue additional potentially lucrative side hustles and about reductions for injuries/maternity leave. Nike wasn't budging and thought that they could outlast her. Lululemon made their pitch and offered her considerably more money and freedom.
There was also alleged tension between Quigley and Shelby Houlihan that escalated with Quigley's wins at Millrose and USATF Indoors. Factions formed within the squad and some team members were angered that Quigley was getting outside opportunities (product endorsements, TV work, features and guest spots on varied media) based on her looks and social media presence. While the contract negotiations were ongoing, Nike decided to back Houlihan and Frerichs as the better bets for championship medal chances. They made a half-hearted matching offer/extension but Quigley allowed her contract with Nike to expire. This allowed her to walk away and also explained why it took her so long to announce her partnership with Lululemon.
In the end, it was just business with some minor personality drama for flavor. There is no corporate level hate for Quigley nor had BTC become "Real Housewives of Beaverton".

She took good notes when Gwen Jorgensen was with BTC: Rattle on endlessly about transparency, peek behind the curtain, blah, blah, blah, but don't be honest when things aren't going well. Gets boring real quick and even the hypnotized sheep move on eventually.
Absolutely hilarious and entirely expected. She did this to herself, like she always does. She overtrains and undernourishes when she's injured, which is all the time. She doesn't know how to take off completely for injury. Ever. She finally admitted to having disordered eating, which is disappointing but expected because she never was the same size as other models. She hasn't had a legitimate period in years, that's why she's on birth control. She does this at every Worlds trials, she even flew out to worlds and scratched the night before her race. She was able to rely on her youth to make the Olympic team, but her looks are going to hell with the wrinkles already starting on her face from sun damage. She's jumped on the SJW train a long while ago to undermine women and all of the catfight rumors from BTC are true. The disordered eating has ruined her body from the inside and she'll never make an Olympic team again. She'll live off the coattails of being on an Olympic team, once. Never a world competitor again. Mark my words.

This person gets it. Whichever way you want to dice it, she was once up there as an exciting competitor in her field but now she’s a former Olympian who was once a model, acting as an influencer (even though her engagement isn’t that large and she buys followers).
She will need to find a new angle because off of the above is waining. Maybe triathlon will work out for her.
But I had forgotten about worlds... so she traveled to worlds and scratched the night before. likely her family paid and took the time to travel there. went to Eugene for the trials and scratched the day of. and now went to Eugene and her whole fam came again and scratched.
I think there is definitely something going on emotionally. Don't know exactly what but I hope she can sort through it all.

Fear of failing perceived expectations- mostly self anssigned. Afraid of failure- likely with a sprinkle of ocd and a dash of perfectionism thrown in. Defining ourselves through our job, looks, relationship with spouse, etc is a recipe for disaster.
Which WC meet did she scratch from the night before? I am having trouble recalling. I do recall it was likely her being DQ'd at Worlds for running inside the curb or am I confusing her with someone else on a prior US team?

Doha was where she scratched the night before and denied another athlete from competing.
Also wasn’t it USAs last year that she danced around after her qualifying heat and then scratched before the finals due to a foot problem?

In a recent podcast she bragged that her parents CANCELED a trip to Africa to come see her race at USAs this year. I wonder if they regret that decision. I'm sorry if she is truly injured again but this chick is clearly beyond entitled and it is really hard to root for her.
I am sure that it is pretty taxing to watch your pro career wash away about as quickly as it came. Cashed out after her one Olympic team and pretty much rode the "Bowerman Babe" wave as long as she could.
Makes you wonder what her pro career would have actually been had she not perfectly fit the image those gals were obviously striving for.
What do you call that then . she quit on her team . sure , competing is tough as hell and it’s not like she hadn’t prepped before .
has she had mental issues before ? , we all have some sort of “issues “ we need to overcome .
she bailed . old news anyway .
Time to move on
I would rather that Biles refused to admit that she wasn’t performing well, had put herself above the team, hoped for a miraculous return to her younger form, and possibly flopped and cost the team a medal. Because then I could have ripped into her selfishness and for trying to hog the spotlight and hang on well last her prime. Instead, she put the team first, refused to give a sub par contribution - and now we get to call her a quitter! We win either way in tearing her down.
As the undisputed GOATin her sport, there is no reason we should respect her judgment or give her the benefit of the doubt.
