True, he lacks range and that’s negatively affecting his 800/1000m bests. If you look at other miac mid distance runners that were good all around had sub 27/26 8k PRs. Like Jesse Middendorf, Tommy Allen, Calvin Boone, Alexei Hensel

When do the tffrs rosters usally get posted. They should be up in a couple of weeks i would think...
Yes, Although many of these guys are much more hybrid runners. Getinat strikes me as more of a purebred mid-d guy. When i was in college we would have hybrid runners running 1:55 range 800s and sub 26 8ks then some would be that 1:55 range but kinda have a cap around 27 flat.
Bati 15:27 5k
Interesting to see that Kassie Parker got 6th in that race, 1st female overall. Not too terrible far before her performance at USAs
Carleton roster on TFRRS with a few notable names missing. Oles posted without their freshman group or the vaunted transfer we all expect to be just as injured as Curtis. I'm sure their JV army will grow with a middling group of bus seat fillers.
The Oles “bus seat fillers” would be varsity runners on most teams in the conference…
Power does that every year. He’s thinks he’s cute doing that. Same with entering his throwers in the 4 x 800. At some point the Oles will get a real distance coach and be relevant but it doesn’t appear that will happen this year.
He’s a tool and not a great coach, but the teams are performing well enough for the admin to not look elsewhere. I know that a very qualified alum who has had incredible successful at the high level wants the job as soon as they realize how terrible Power is. That day will come. Maybe the new assistant AD who should supervise XCTF will figure it out.
Is this the same rumor from last summer about the Edina coach? Seems unlikely he’d take the massive pay cut to be a college coach.
All things considered the Ole track program is better than it has been in years and XC won last year. A lot of MIAC schools would like half that success even if meant having a “tool” for a coach.

is Gabe not a cross athlete. I know he didn't run last year i kind of assumed he was redshirting or something to save eligibility. With this current Carleton roster, this group doesn't look like clear favorites.
I have inside news on 2 very important runners. One from Gustavus and the other Carleton ending up with season ending or severely inhibiting injuries ...
on the womens side.
***BREAKING*** Gustavus Adolphus has elected to trade Tucker Wallin to St. Scholastica in a blockbuster move that sees SIX draft picks head to the Gusties.
Unfortunately for Scholastica, Wallin has elected to retire from running before ever lacing up for the Saints!!!
Here’s the full lowdown on the trade:
St. Scholastica receives:
- Tucker Wallin
- 2025 second round pick (pick swap)
- 2027 second round pick
Gustavus Adolphus receives:
- 2023 first round pick
- 2024 first and second round picks
- 2025 first and second round picks (second round pick swap)
- 2026 second round pick
- 2027 first round pick
Grades:
Gustavus: A
The Gusties absolutely fleeced the Saints in this trade. Yes, Gustavus traded away their school record holder in the mile, their only men’s distance/middle distance MIAC champion since 2017 and their fastest runner from last cross country season. However, the rumor mill had been hinting on Wallin’s retirement from running AND Gustavus already had quite a strong middle distance core of freshmen and sophomores, making Wallin a trade-able asset. This is where we get to the good part for Gustavus: those sweet, sweet picks. Their 2023 pick has already been used to acquire someone with equal, if not better, personal records than Wallin. They also have three more first round picks to work with in future, along with two more second round picks and an option to swap picks. This could set Gustavus up for years to come in cross AND track if they are smart with their picks and is a very smart bit of business.
Scholastica: F
With Wallin’s retirement from the sport and Gustavus using Scholastica’s pick to acquire a replacement for Wallin, this has gone catastrophically wrong for Scholastica. They gave up FOUR first round picks, three second round picks, and a pick swap to acquire Wallin. He’s a damn good runner, but that is a hefty haul of picks to give up for only one runner and a second round pick. Had this trade panned out, Scholastica could have three experienced mile runners who are all versatile and absolute studs. But, it didn’t, and with the pick haul they gave up, this trade could be remembered in the same category as the “Rudy Gobert” trade.
This is the best post on this thread! Well done.
This asks two questions -
One, who is the 2023 draft pick? Do the Gusties have a stud coming in?
Two, why wouldn’t Wallin run? He seems to be the missing piece to slide into the Scholastica top five. They might be able to surpass Macalester.
MIAC does not allow for graduate transfers - so Wallin would not be eligible to compete at a second MIAC school as a graduate student. taking a fifth year at your same MIAC institution is fair game, just can't transfer. you can thank the Northfield ADs for that one.
Honestly is quite the bummer. Would love to see Wallin round out a depth-less scholastica team.
Appears Gustavus did indeed get a great replacement for Wallin with their top 2023 pick.... (according to a former hs teammate at Gac)
And Scholastica gets shafted by miac rules, a trio of Boone, Dewall and Wallin with Neau as a very strong 4th (26:05) would've definitely entered the conversation for top 4, but a 28 minute 5th runner may have still put a hamper things
A by Northfield AD’s logically you mean we should blame Power.
I'd guess the decision was made before Power was at St. Olaf. But it says a lot about how poorly liked he is that he is automatically blamed.
Having grad students might be the only way to make some of the smaller MIAC schools competitive.

They used to ban graduate students altogether. I think this rule was mainly because of St Thomas. The schools that offer graduate degrees don’t really threaten to dominate many sports (except Augsburg w/wrestling but that’s not a MIAC sport).
