Name another top distance program that doesn’t have injuries. It’s part of the sport unfortunately. There are things outside of a coach’s control as well. It takes more than just doing the workouts well. Athletes have to buy in and do all the other things to stay healthy. Nutrition, sleep, recovery, not sneaking in extra training. They call these the little things but they can make a big difference.
Rowe won nationals last year and didn't even qualify this year. If you are suggesting that one year of winning guarantees future success, you are mistaken. King Chez had a huge streak going before losing XC senior year. How much do you want to bet that she loses the 1500? You get one runner and I get the field.
Most of the top qualifiers from the west did not compete against Tuohy during indoor or outdoor track. Several did not qualify for XC..
Pretty much all of the top West runners raced her in XC - Plourde, Barnett, O Sullivan, Elmore, jepkirui, asekol, pellicoro, thornton bott etc ... only West top contender she hasn't ever faced is Kascimerska.
They are scared of her. When are you guys going to let go of time as the dominant criteria? It didn't matter what times Nuguse ran in the recent past. He deferred to Jakob because he understands the pecking order. The West girls will do the same to Tuohy. The playground aspect has a heck of a lot more carryover than posters on track sites are willing to accept.
The only way it doesn't play out that way is if someone gets rank and sacrifices herself.
Katelyn Tuohy wants no piece of the West region runners. They are about to put a big hurt on KT.
Tuohy's only concern will be hitting the standard for Worlds.

XC title: Valby absolutely pushed the pace here and led again
Indoor 5k: Sat on Alabama to win
Indoor 3k: took the lead with 800 to go?
mile record: rightfully sat behind pros
5k record: understandably gapped by pros
My point definitely stands. She most likely would not win front running majority of the race. I would love to see it but there isn't any evidence that she is that dominant yet. Doesn't mean she isn't the favorite to win both races but she most likely loses if she tries to lead the whole race.
This is very misleading... First of all indoor she didn't really draft off anyone but ran on the outside of the leader and one of the Alabama runners was able to draft off her for most of the race...
But basically indoors she knew she could win and she just wanted to stay out of trouble and so ran on the outside and then easily out kicked the other runners
The valby front running was really kind of meaningless because she didn't front run much in the outdoor 5K, 3 laps maybe, and in cross-country so what it wasn't like KT drafted off her...
And yeah obviously she's not faster than the best pros yet so she ran with pros to set the record and was out kicked by them but it's kind of irrelevant...
