Kerr- has yet to open his outdoor season. Reportedly in Portland this weekend.
Wightman- injured. On the comeback trail like the Hulkomaniac he is.
Mcsweyn- recently 3rd in a road 10k in 29:xx. Seems his best days are behind him, unfortunately.
Katir- defeat came 6 days after his epic 3k. Tired legs. Back in the mountains training like rocky balboa.

Great logic, works especially good early in the season. Is the current world leading time "a historic time"? What about all the other times that are bettering Nuguses time this year? Do they count?

Situation is reminiscent of the Cole Hocker hype. LR fanboys insisted he would medal. In the end he came 6th and suddenly they U-turned and said 6th was a good result for him! Nguse is this year's Cole Hocker.

Except I am not hating American runners. I am saying that its weird crowning Nuguse as the second best 1500 runner as there is two americans currently having better SB than him. I am also saying that its a disservice to Nuguse and his accomplishments to set the bar so unbelievable high for him, instead of letting him have his first international season on the elite level without these unrealistic expectations. The only thing it does is setting him up for failure.
This DL result could be the best result all season and would be fantastic, as this is his rookie season, however everything but a gold or silver in the WC will be a failure by the way people are talking about him. That is not the way I would treat an up and coming runner I rooted for at least. But somehow that is the mode of some people here. This Nuguse is great talk needs to slow down. At least Cole Hocker won USA 1500m and beat 2016 Olympic gold medalist. Nuguse may be great going forward but too many on here are projecting greatness based on fast indoor performances. Indoor arenas are juiced. Indoor trampoline tracks are equal to juicing.

He was never/ in it - to win it. He finished second in a late race sh!t kick.. good run but he was not a factor in this 1500m race.

This looks like somewhat poor tactics on Nuguse’s part. I think it is best to wait till the mile race in two weeks before seeing what kind early shape he is in.

So when Nuguse set PB in such a "slow" race he should be satisfied. He has shown he is in the very top at the world. I will say he is no 2 after Jakob. He has beaten most of the top milers apart from the 2 Cheruiyots.
But we will be wiser after DL Bislett where Tim reportedly participates. I think Jakob will try to run fast in front of his home crowd. My guess is that Jakob will beat Tim convincingly in Oslo.
I wasn´t aware that Nuguse also runs in Oslo. I predict that Jakob will win before Nuguse so that Tim at best will be third.
