Hire more workers. If I wanted to scan and bag groceries, I would get a job at your store. Please don't make me work when I visit your store. I'm a consumer - not free labor.
I'm happy with the machines.
Like the OP, it's the braindead actions of other people that irk me.
Personally, I'd pay to not have to interact with other humans while shopping.
I can appreciate this reasoning but I still don't work for free. If I scan and bag, I should get a discount. Next we'll be opening boxes and stocking shelves too. Maybe cutting our own steaks.
Also, self checkers are not item limited most places. Express lanes are and those should be kept to the stated limit or at least close. Few stores seem to have these anymore though so...
