Nice showing of some big names at the Champs like you said. Makes sense that more of the mid-d guys are there rather that in the 5 and probably 10 tomorrow.
Also saw Rotich, Ngeny, Kidali and Kitilit in the 800 as well as Alfred Kipketer seeming to make a bit of a comeback.
Simiyu looks like the big favourite for the 5000. I'm pretty sure it was Emmanuel Kiplagat who seemed to casually drop out of the 1st heat with a few laps to go, so not sure what that's all about.
Men's 3000m SC: Quite a few of the top guys were racing and it was youngsters Haron Kibet and Simon Koech who took the heat wins. As far as I'm aware Koech is undefeated this year and running quite impressively beating Leonard Bett and Amos Serem in Feb. Haron Kibet in April and Benjamin Kigen at KDF champs a few weeks ago.
Bett, Kigen, Kibiwott and Edmund Serem also qualified. Not sure who the two athletes between Koech and Kigen were but could be some new names on the scene as they looked quite good too.
Tomorrow are the 10000s and 800 semis which look really competitive. Not expecting the 10000 races to be the most competitive because of trials coming up but maybe Zakayo, Edwin Soi, Hillary Kipkoech and Dennis Mutuku could do well
