And every distance runner in history ran the 3000 but most wouldn't say that Bosley is the best in history. Don't take it so personally. Bosley and Jacobs wouldn't be faster than previous greats even though they broke their records.
Nothing personal here.
I am responding to the very silly argument that breaking a 14 year old collegiate mile record set by Jenny Simpson is somehow not a big deal because [insert reason here].

Every time I see this thread I want the mods to correct the title, or delete the thread.
Cain is the best example of peaked in high school. Tuohy didn't peak yet.
Idk if that is even fair to Cain. I think if she had not gone pro in HS, but had gone NCAA with a good program, good coach, she would have developed and had a shot. She might still be running today. We will never know.
Tuohy has definitely peaked. She isn’t going to get better. Valby is the future of the sport.
…based on what evidence? We’ve been hearing this since 2019. A year ago she was only one of the best NCAA performers but hadn’t won any college titles yet. Now:
1) She’s won 2 national Titles
2) She’s won 2 team Titles
3) She hasn’t lost to another college runner since her 4:06 1500M performance
4) She’s broken several XC course records
5) She’s now broken a 14 year old college record (previously held by a running legend)
6) She holds several school and personal records broken over the last 12 months
7) She still has 2 years of college eligibility left
8) She’s only 20 years old!
not only hasn’t she peaked but her progression rate is once again similar to her astounding HS record! She may very well lose to other college talents, from time to time, like Valby, but they all wish their records could hold a candle to Tuohy’s!

Just to keep the facts straight.....
actually she has lost to another college runner since then....2 hours after that 1500 Sam Bush beat her in the 5000 (on 1 hour rest after her own 800 m final)!

Wow! Ok, since that day, smartass! Totally miss the point!
Tuohy has to fine tune her kick to join/overtake the top pro’s. By developing a sub 60 closing and consistent sub 28/29 closing 200 she would destroy most if not all NCAA competition and perhaps join the international elite to allow her to go sub 8:40 and sub 14:50/15:00. We’ll see what she’s learned at Millrose and the NCAA’s, as well as the outdoor season.
