It is sad when open discussion of the mechanism that might have led to this poor guy's condition is being censored by mods. The "fix" is in.
BTW I am not "anti-vax". I had a tetanus booster a few months ago. I am anti-censorship and coercion of an experimental injection, especially for low-risk groups. Our bodies, our choices.
Lazily claiming "it was the vaxx" is not an "open discussion". It's unscientific and unsubstantiated sh!tposting about one of our own.
Even if incidents like this were increasing (and I'm not convinced of that), I'm still not sure why the vaccination would be considered a "new" risk factor whereas COVID itself (whose long-term complications have been observed in many healthy individuals) couldn't be. Remember, something like 90% of the US has had COVID at least once by now. I think that's more people than have been vaccinated, and it's almost as new as the vaccine
Did people see the story about the hobby jogger cardiologist who SAVED two people during this year’s Monterey half? The guy deserves a black page on LRC.
Also going to point out that the runner here has a previous personal best of 3:05. So 2:48 was a 17 minute improvement, or 9.1% faster. Would he really have been that aggressive if the entry he was chasing meant he'd get in at 2:59? Would the shock have happened if he had run 11 minutes slower? I think the answers to that is probably not. Big races (and for that matter running shoe store training programs) shouldn't create incentives for people to push past their limits...
He was having a break through race. He was not running over his head or he would have showed significant slowing in the last miles. It doesn’t matter it a standard is on the line when you are having a great race.
The various COVID vaccines have been linked to life threatening clots and heart damage. That's not debatable. The CDC and FDA's own publications show it. (Pfizer: pulmonary embolism over age 65; J&J: cavernous sinus thrombosis, and myocarditis, adolescents/young adults; Pfizer/Moderna).
However, claiming every sudden or unexpected death is from the COVID vaccine just makes you look like you don't have any idea what you're talking about. In particular, a specific website I won't name, commonly posts these deaths, implying they are COVID vaccine caused deaths. Many have turned out to be suicides. Others, bacterial infections. They post no follow, of course.
Some of these cases may turn out to be from a vaccine. But until each individual case is worked through, by those involved and who are qualified to do so, no one can say for sure. Plus, COVID causes these same ailments, too. It's not very easy to tease out which caused which and how frequently, especially in people who've had COVID and the vaccine. Risk benefit analysis also needs to be done, in individual populations, i.e., more benefit than risk (and vice versa). It's a complicated process.
Sudden and unexpected deaths in young and middle age people was happening regularly, long before COVID or the vaccines. You'd know this if you were in the business of taking care of such people, or knew a few. But you might not have noticed, or cared, if your only concern for such people and events was in how they could benefit you and your particular agenda.
If you don't want the shot. Don't get it. I've had it three times and I'm not getting anymore, any time soon. But if you don't have expertise in a certain area, don't jump to conclusions you aren't qualified to make.

At no point did I state that "It's the vaxx", but thanks to the mods the evidence is destroyed on that count. But keep up your lazy sh!tposting since you seem to enjoy putting words into other people's mouths.

I didn't say that you specifically lazily claimed that, but many of the deleted posts did.
Tragic story. As a physician I highly recommend everyone who runs even at the recreational level to have a baseline EKG and for it to be read by a physician. Especially if youre doing a lot of zone 5 training. Any chest pain, or fluttering sensation while doing speedwork is of paramount concern. I will say I have detected some arrythmias and ventricular abormalities in runners who are also my friends and patients.
Do not take the topic lightly. It can save a life!
Makes sense but in this case it doesn't appear like it was a heart failure originally but that his heart couldn't cope with the chemical reaction in his body.

The same people causing the deaths in the first place recommend coming to them for more of the same and even more deaths, which is why so many people have been dying these last 3 years and of course also previously before that.
