With Sophia's mother being a doctor, Texas's politicization of female reproductive health couldn't have helped Texas and Texas A&M's chances.
Which explains why 2 Texas schools were among the final three she was considering
So you’re saying that politicization of female reproductive health explains why she was considering Texas & TAMU? Yeah, ok 🙄
FWIW, I don’t believe that political views or the ineptness of Abbott had anything to do with Gorriaran ruling the Texas schools in or out. Both have good track programs and decent academics. TAMU probably has a little better history of developing middle distance athletes and Texas has slightly better academics.
Gorriaran was also considering Virginia, Penn, where her sister is and is also playing lacrosse, and Harvard, where she is going to go. All three of those schools have better academics than the Texas schools. She also considered playing lacrosse and if she wanted to, she would have probably chosen UVa or Penn. Once she dropped the idea of lacrosse, Harvard became the obvious choice.
The RI indoor state track championships last weekend:
She won the 1k (2:58.22), 1500m (4:41.82), and anchored the winning 4x400. Her school finished in a tie for 2nd place in the team standings. I know she's done more events at this meet in previous years.
No weekend off for SG . . .
Now entered in the 300m & 800m at BU Last Chance Meet on Sunday.

The 800 makes sense because she has a shot at getting the national record.
Excellent choice.... Boston has become a destination city for track athletes seeking quality competition on excellent world class indoor tracks at Boston University and New Balance.
Ms. Gorriaran will do well at Harvard. Olympian Gabby Thomas attended Harvard prior to medaling twice in the 2020 Olympics and in my opinion Ms G. displays more youth, versatility and upside potential.
I am excited for Harvard and looking forward to them providing Sophia with all the resources necessary for her to go beyond, way beyond her extraordinary potential and obvious work ethic... Best of Good Fortune to you Sophia.

Nice to be so wealthy that a free education at Stanford or Virginia isn't worth it as opposed to paying $325K for an education elsewhere.
Despite how good she is, I doubt anyone on the team is getting a full-ride. Stanford is known to spread their scholarships across tons of people with basically no one getting a full.
