In my opinion Molly was using the getting clean phrase cause she was speaking faster than thinking. The phrase was on her mind cause she must have been thinking it / speaking it to herself before

minute 21 to 24. Its correct she didnt say getting clean, but quote "as a far as i could take it with a clean body" referring to the future followed by "I know I am not doing that fully healthy right now but I am clean now.. " referring to the past and future. For me that equals to saying I wanna see what I can do when I am clean. I listed to the thing but sorry didnt take notes on exact quotes, getting clean was the message I got from it.

One last time I'll try to explain this, and make it as simple as I can. Dude, when you put things in quotes that were not said, it suggests you lack integrity, to put it mildly. It suggests you are not being honest. Both of these new quotes, just like the one in your original post, are not accurate. Words matter, and when you change them, you change the meaning of what is being said. Crucially in your last incorrect quote, you made up the second "now."

In this passage, Seidel makes clear that there are two things that are very important to her: good health (both physical and mental) and being clean. She says she hasn't, at least any time recently, had good health, but she never even hints that she has ever not been clean.

I've never once used the term "clean" to describe being in recovery so it is kinda odd, but I could see it's use, especially if she's referring to abstaining from purging. A number of people in eating disorder recovery use the 12-step model, and maybe she does. In that case, "clean" could mean "not purging".

Total speculation but it's not totally out of reach. She's been open about her purging.

Your explanation doesn't cut it. She used the word "clean" in the context of her running. It is an inappropriate choice of word if she is referring to an eating disorder, as other posters informed on such disorders have pointed out.

Did you honestly think any of the pro runners are clean? The sport is dirty as hell at the "elite" (phony) level, what do you expect? Self absorbed people have completely ruined running and it is unfortunate.

Kudos to Seidel for at least seemingly giving clean running a go; I'll be rooting for her in this effort.

Yo, like dprat says above, you got her quote wrong. She didn't say "when" and she's not referring to clean eating. She's referring to clean, the way we all refer to it, as running without the aid of illegal drugs. And while she goes on to say she got Olympic bronze without being completely healthy cause of her ED, she doesn't go back on being a clean athlete. She wonders what she can do when fully healthy.

She acknowledges that her 2:24 is a long ways from a 2:14 but she has been behind a 2:14 woman by 20 seconds, meaning the bronze at the Olympics. So with the right conditions and the right race, you never know. And about the Olympics she says to her it meant:
"I know that I may not be doing this fully healthy right now, but I'm clean and I'm like, that close."

You really have negative bias against her if you can listen to this podcast and twist her words this way. She and the interviewer are pretty clear-spoken and it's all pretty basic and wholesome.

Jakob Ingebristen "wants to see what he can do when he is clean". Would that stand?

“Clean” could mean not taking Alcohol/Marijuana/Prescription drugs/etc. as a way to cope.

If Jakob had been interviewed after his recent XC race in muddy conditions and said “I’m really dirty.” would there be a similar thread?

No. But if he had said he had a clean win. Or if he had said that he needed to clean up his game order to be at his best, there would and should be a thread.

The fact is that until it can be proven that zero elite athletes have even taken any one supplement that has even one ingredient on the banned list, including diet pills and fat burners, while achieving the times they do, encompassing both sprints and distance,there is zero chance that I believe, with as many laboratories, pharmaceuticals, and foreign herbs that exist, that I believe any elite is clean.
