Yep. Hubris always gets in way. They cannot help it. They will always go bombs away. Every time. So a massive PR out of the gate was an easy call.
The one thing I picked up on at Nationals is that none of Valby's competitors congratulated her or acknowledged her on social media. Unless it changed later Roe seemingly made a point of it. Athletes can see and feel when something is off.

Tuohy has always been muscular, it’s her natural build. Valby has changed significantly since high school. She is significantly thinner and more muscular. This does not necessarily mean that there’s something suspicious going on though. Could be insane amounts of training and very restrictive eating, which UF is known for. Regardless, not good

Usually the lean out later as pros, yet. The question is … will Valby peak in college and then disappear? Stable progression is important if you plan to go pro.

My son ran in Parker’s conference, same year. She ran 17:20 at the conference meet in cross country one year. She doesn’t appear to have that much of a different body type than in hs, she was always thin.
Her biggest talent is her drive, in all the years of being in the sport I have seen few with her drive and will to win. When she won the State 3200 title she almost PR’d at 1600 and led wire to wire. She will get even better once she gets better coaching after leaving UF
I just looked at the results, didn’t read through this entire thread. I saw Valby run at that NCAA 5000 championship, and she is really strong. However, if the course is really as fast as everyone says it is, my question isn’t how did Valby run so fast? It’s why did everyone else run so slow. 2nd place converts to a hair over 16:30 for 5k. Was it really hot & humid?
Valby's progression has been quite interesting.
Anyway I don't retract a single thing. As I said once before, I have a pretty keen eye regarding red flags (it's not rocket science, you can always recognize them if you bother to look) and my radar goes off as it may. I'm reasonably careful. There are many athletes I think dope in this sport. It is essentially required to be a pro runner. But as long as the athlete is not being obvious and insulting everyone's intelligence, I will generally let it pass. Just don't try to rub everyone's faces in it, like Shelby and her AR time trial with her faithful sidekick and her Armstrongesque denials. And don't do it in high school or college. That I will always point out because it violates the unwritten rules of the game. Compete in college clean then as a pro it is what it is. I know this already does not apply to the sprinters. But doping in college distance running? People could really go that low? Well after the AW saga, I guess so. There is nothing to prevent it, and if a program already has suspect sprinters and field athletes on the roster, why not others?
So here we have an athlete whose progression is already suspect, who is clearly suspected by other athletes, who shows red flags, who never seems to tire from PR to PR to PR. Who does not show the inconsistency of a clean athlete. And what does the athlete do after another down period out of the public eye? She's bombs another Massive PR. I and others said this was exactly what would transpire, that there was already a distinct pattern. But then the athlete goes full Leroy Jenkins on the PR train, breaking a course record by 30 seconds. It is like daring people to raise an uncomfortable question. It is frankly Shelbyesque. If you are going to dare people to notice, I am certainly not shy, and my arrow rarely misses.
Maybe I am wrong. But it is not bad faith.

You’re not wrong. You’re getting pushback here because (1) you sound pretty arrogant and (2) Valby is very pretty and people are predisposed towards believing she’s clean as a result.

Valby got 2nd in the NCAA 5K while only running twice a week. She improved a lot this year once she was able to train consistently. It's not rocket science.
Parker Valby's progression does not really make sense that is why it naturally raises the possibility of PED-use. It doesn't help the fact that she suddenly has more muscles and only muscles without fat after becoming fast.
Yes, she’s likely still riding the initial performance of wave when you drop a decent amount of weight quickly - as she looks quite different than she did even in her first year.
What will be interesting is how long/if she can hold it

Correct, Valby looks like a pro runner at college while Tuohy looks like a college runner at college.
Valby is built like a pro runner, who is not clean. Tuohy looks like a college runner in college, muscular but has fat on her arms and legs. Tuohy's progression has been natural. Valby's progression is not.
What someone said here is correct, other runners are suspicious too, none of Valby's competitors congratulated her after finishing 2nd in the 5000m. None. Only Gator athletes congratulated her on the track and on her post.
