Doug Brown is the key to it all. If he talks a lot of reputations will collapse.
That would be awesome, and it's long overdue. We need a cleansing moment to finally get the old cheats, and their proteges, out of this sport, or it will never change.
What is incongruous is that so many athletes are prepared to dope but fans are unwilling to believe they do. Fans don't know much about what it takes to be professional or to get to the top in sport.

On the other hand it is amazing how few tell alls have ever come out. If all the people in the know like doctors, exwifes, training partners and the like we have incredibly few whistler blowers. Other than Charlie Francis, the list is pretty short.

Also, how many coaches, trainers, training partners and doctors have come out and affirmed those we now know were dopers because they were busted? I guess if they knew they were involved.

Right - you can see some reasons for that on the previous page in the Tabb/Brown discussion.

Out of the sport? Our own governing body hired a convicted drug cheat to coach our USA team members! That same governing body has a TWICE convicted cheat acting as commentator for its platform. Complete bull****.
It is a combination of super shoes and the new drugs. If it wasn't for them we would rarely see a sub 27 minute 10,000m or sub 12:55 5,000m, sub 59 half mary or sub 2:04 full mary. Also it is the new norm for highschoolers to be sub 4 millers now.

Thanks - exactly my point. At this rate, it will never change.

After every scandal Festina, Lance, BALCO, Russia, etc we repeat the same mistakes over and over.
I think we need to stop with hero worship in sports and recognize doping is an ethical violation, not moral. We elevate these otherwise unremarkable people because of their athletic success and we want to believe they ‘are doing it right.’ It is really the antipode of the medieval view of deformity and illness — those so stricken must have sinned grievously. The beautiful and talented athletes that we worship are not more virtuous than the rest of us. Some are amazing people, others ordinary, and there are a few notable malignant narcissists. Just like us really, but elevated because of the perpetuation of our weird Hellenic fascination with athleticism.
We want to believe that the good guys win so badly. We want to believe that we can be like them too. It’s hard for us to identify them as cheaters because we don’t want to see ourselves as potential cheaters like those less deserving ‘others’ who we can’t imprint on for whatever reason.
Think about it this way. In surveys of couples under the age of 55, about 20% admit to infidelity. All of these people got a license, stood in front of some sort of officiant, and swore to uphold their martial vows. They cheated anyway.
Knowing this, and knowing how insufficient testing is, how can we not acknowledge the pervasiveness of cheating within ALL sports? That’s why I think its so disappointing that people choose to remain silent and consign us to repeat the cycle.

Interesting point: if people can quite easily commit infidelities - including the most attractive amongst us with the most opportunities - then athletes can also be tempted to cheat through doping, and especially the most talented with the most chance of success. Perhaps doping in sports is also like politics: do politicians ever lie or misrepresent the truth? What sports fans find hard to accept is that where temptation and opportunity exist there also we find human nature.
Malmo has a Harambe level of understanding. If you look at the data, 6 of 7 people had increased maximum running velocities after the 3 week dosage of Winstrol compared to the week before they took it. Only the slowest of the 7 regressed. There is also no mention of the very slow week 6 for most of the runners. They also started with 10 runners, but only 7 finished the 6 week study. Why did 3 of the runners in the group that had the placebo first drop out?
Last time I saw monster drops in times and performances that used to be considered extraordinary become routine is back when EPO entered the sport.
What's everyone on now? How long until someone leaks it out to the press?
GABA enhancement to levels well above the naturally occurring range via a cocktail of compounds and substances not on WADA's Prohibited Substances and Methods List.
