She is the fastest American of all time and in her prime. If Mclaughlin got busted, we would talk about her for the next 5 years regardless of her skin color.
Brianna McNeal won gold in Rio and is one of the fastest Americans of all time in her event. and has been banned. Where are the comparable daily posts about her innocence and her mental fortitude yada yada yada...
Christian Coleman one of the fastest Americans was banned for whereabouts failure; where were the comparable posts proclaiming his innocence and his mental fortitude yada yada yada...
The hypothetical about Sydney is a non-starter and there's no need for it given that there are current and past examples readily available.
She said she wanted to go out and try to set PR's and "break records," for herself. She tried and she didn't. I guess this isn't how I'd spend my time in suspension but time is relative and she can spend it however she wants!
I do think it's interesting to see the times she put up just doing everything alone. She's still fast. And she kind of...like downs herself like "omg b/c I didn't "break records or get a PR, it's not good."

Enough about this damn cheat!
She is guilty but that does not automatically mean she is a cheat.
That's intriguing, but the first paper is just an abstract that doesn't lay out any conclusions, and the second one describes how increased number of nuclei can support later muscle hypertrophy (larger cross sectional area) in strength training conditions. But at least for endurance running, hypertrophy and strength training aren't really the issue, and CSA isn't a strong determinant of endurance performance. Instead, we'd be looking for things like capillarization, oxidative capacity, and muscle fiber type (the second study expressly says this isn't changed by the steroid treatment: "steroids had no effects on muscle fibre type"). Again, intriguing, but not yet making the case for a lifetime ban.

Esp if minimal levels of potentially contamination found

Thank you.
I'm so sick of this. And Shelby. It's such a ridiculous farce.
Scanning the comments on her post and seeing all the sycophants who are "rooting for her!" is just gross at this point. Shelby offered up a terrible excuse that was laughed out of court. She tested positive, and it wasn't a trace amount.
She had a racist alibi. I'm sorry--she did. It wasn't the burrito. But the emphasis on AUTHENTIC MEXICAN was gross. As a person of color, I've been on the receiving end of this sort of racism. the evil Mexicans and their strange and sinister food practices was what got the poor innocent white girl. Give me a break. It wasn't the burrito. She didn't even order pork.
She had a classic doper progression. She kept improving every single year. Her face and hairline changed, as she kept "setting records".
She grifted the running community for money when she later admitted she made a six figure salary while she was running and wasn't working for a year.
She "bumped into teammates" while serving a ban, and still had money to travel to altitude with them, but she needed help from the running community to pay her legal team.
She spoke to a 16 year old kid, using his platform and taking advantage of his fanboy-ing instead of a grown adult, to share her story.
She keeps inserting herself into the running world, which is inappropriate given Worlds is so close and we should be talking about runners competing there.
Track and field is a conglomeration of sports. I like distance running but have no interest in field events. This website is primarily visited by distance fans. Most don't know who McNeal is. Coleman missed his tests. No question there. You don't like the answers but they are the truth.
She will come back stronger than ever. I never believed , what the incompetent, under funded, testing agency (AIU) had said about Shelby’s positive test.
Why would any sane person take Nandrolone to run faster in a distance event ? Ask any Bodybuilder about Nandrolone, he will tell you not to mess with that $hit. It’s toxic AF, with many crazy side effects.
If we want to save the sport, we need more people like Travis Tygart leading these agencies (Obviously something needs to change)

She lied about her burrito, so she's definitely telling the truth about her times.
Why is she still running aimlessly in big circles.. her career is over.
As a hobby jogger (and I'm pretty sure i'm not alone on this) I used to really enjoy training hard on the track for no other reason than to run a fast TT.
Every single hobby jogger on earth no matter how slow is still running with more purpose than SH, because at least a hobby jogger can enter the local 5K. People on here call for runners who are actually still racing reasonably fast to hang it up all the time - there’s tons of threads on how Spencer or this sub elite marathoner or YouTuber needs to give it up, and at least they’re still allowed to compete. And then people turn around and cheer on SH. It’s completely bizarre the strange white knighting and coddling of this one woman.
What is going to happen to SH when the times start eroding more and more? You can at least say that most of this year so far she was hoping - however improbably - that her appeal would go through and there was some small justification for putting her life on hold. That’s over. If she doesn’t find some other purpose for her life, in two years when those times keep creeping up the less she has touch with the running world, and the more former teammates move on, and with no money for massages/sports medicine/etc., and the less and less sustainable it is to pretend to be a full-time runner and keep that schedule, she is going to crash hard. For her own sake, people in her life need to help her start to build an identity outside of running. Not stopping running, but balancing maintaining decent training with reality. Enabling her and cheering her on in this isn’t kind or actually supportive of her in a healthy way.
Houlihan is going to be 31/32 when she comes back. Too old to be really competitive on the track. She should spend the next two years building a kick-ass base for a shift to the HM and marathon. That's the only way I can see her having a career in running after her ban. Stop messing around with 800/1500 TTs, build the volume
Unpopular opinion - I respect her mental resiliency to continue training and running at a high level even if it's not quite the level she was at before. A lot of people wouldn't be able to sustain that effort - just like the Kenyan 1500 runners (Kiprop, Manangoi) who haven't been the same since they returned.
If you are tired of hearing from her then unfollow her. I'll continue to follow and hope she continues to share updates and isn't deterred by the naysayers.
She can do whatever she wants in her private time.
the issue is that she hasn’t shut up or relinquished her grasp on the limelight since she was banned.
Miss six figure salary and no job begged us for money to pay her legal fees. She blabbered endlessly to a sixteen year old about how the “system was unfair”. Why was it unfair? Oh because they didn’t consider her precious character or prove her intent. How on earth do you prove intent here?! Should they get a search warrant for her house?
shelby has takes up space in articles and on podcasts that should be given to other athletes. That’s why she gets hate and backlash. Have we heard from Brianna McNeal recently? Have we heard from Christian Coleman? It’s sickening how many people believe Shelby’s garbage burrito story all because they like a white midwestern girl.
she’s not reslilient, she’s in denial. She’s not strong, she’s entitled and victim-y. She’s not even a hard worker. She took short cuts to get to the top, and now won’t even find a job to support herself.

+1, well said.
As for the six figures, oregonlive reported that she earned over $200,000 - $300,000 in some years:
She declined to get into specifics of her compensation, citing the non-disclosure agreement she signed. But she said her base compensation was in the six figures. In her best years, performance bonuses and appearance fees could double or triple that number.
It appears that doping pays - if you don't get caught. If you get caught, it depends on the timing (after how many years of cashing in that happens).
