Guys don't do that though. Most guys are training in shorts that are the same as what they race in. Most elite women wear spandex to train and briefs to race. But the ones who race in shorts, wear similar shorts to train in, just like the guys do.

i think the bun huggers are silly myself, but practice is not racing. there is something to having something different from training to meets to give yourself a mental edge. If putting those buns on gets you in a racing mindset and makes you feel like you are going to be just a little bit faster, put them on.

my team doesn't have them as an option, fwiw.

It’s called performance apparel for a reason. Male swimmers wear the least the amount of clothing with the swim briefs.
