US 1500M Team is Historically BAD

Have to echo this and the OP. One guy makes the final. Chokes spectacularly.

Look at the whole season. The unbelievably great Hocker finished a 1500 at one point. Proves he can run almost a mile without stopping. His BFF magically gets on the team, but if he didn't live in Eugene, wouldn't be anywhere near it on the night of the Finals. What a joke these guys are. And they're supposedly our medal hopes.

Team USA is at a point where getting into the WC is note worthy. By some miracle, we got someone into the Final! Wow!

Tough time for US 1500 fans...

Thompson just missed his PR. That is the oppostite of choking.

No of course Thompson did not choke. He ran well and finished last. That is the whole point.

I think this 1500m showing was kind of a fluke in how bad it was. Hocker, Teare, and Nuguse are all big talents who struggled with injuries this year and it’s unfortunate that they all had bad health this year at the same time. That left us with a team of an injured Cooper Teare and two journeymen, Thompson and Gregorek, who actually did pretty well for themselves, but have lower ceilings than Teare, Hocker, and Nuguse do.

However, going forward with these guys hopefully healthy and Jon Davis and Joe Waksom we could be pretty strong in the 1500m.

I was one of those US 1500m runners from the 1990s that at least ran at the Trials.
No, I didn’t get a world ranking but I don’t feel shame.
