Reinhardt reminds me so much of Lukas Verzbicas, long loping stride, good at cross country. Now if he can just stay away from triathlon, get to Oregon, we might see some of these sub 4 kids at NCAA Cross Country next fall. Plus he has poster-boy good looks. I’m sure he will do well
Yes I agree. He can really go places and become an exceptional runner but he's been at this a long, long time and might suffer from burn out. Roll his talent out slowly and he could be World Class!
I occasionally text tom and he's told me Rheinhardt has been in monster sub-4 shape a couple of times but it just hasn't happened before tonight as the races hadn't materialized due to covid, travel restrictions, etc. I mean tonight the 2nd lap was 63 which is kind of what you'd expect when you don't have a pro field with legit pro pacers.
Probably would have run a few seconds faster in a pro field, but it's always good to leave a little on the bone for next year.
Are there actually Tinman haters left at this point or did that all dissipate when TME kicked Tom out and took on the full weight of the TM/TME hate???
No, there are none. If you criticize or even question you’re a hater. Since Tin Man is no longer in the limelight and not associated with the overexposed, navel gazing, under talented, men-children, there is no more “hate”. But, middle aged white guys have misappropriated this, as they have taken the word woke.
I am so happy for this Kid. It seemed as if he was getting tremendous amounts of scrutiny because he had not gone under the barrier. Now, he can go on and accomplish bigger things in his running career and not have to worry about being second guessed by a bunch of anonymous keyboard warriors.
The best previous male Florida high school distance runner was Andres Arroyo, who ran 1:47.79/4:04.45 1600, both U.S. #1, in 2013 at age 17. He also ran 8:50s.
Great run but most if not all highschool graduations already occurred this year. Thus, not really a highschooler anymore?? At what point do you draw the line. He's an entering college freshman. Anyway, I'd take a sub 4 no matter what age.

It's a fair question. I wonder what T&F News' view of it is. They're still the most reliable compiler of T&F stats.
Track & Field News: BOYS HIGH SCHOOL RECORDS High School Records are those ratified by the T&FN Records Committee We consider the season to go through August 31 of an athlete’s senior year or until they begin college, whichever comes first. We have also appended a section noting the best marks made in high school-only competition.
That's helpful. Now I can rewrite my highschool 5k PR back in the 80s which I ran in July after my senior year....wait, no one cares, sort of like my thoughts towards running sub4 in highschool but you already graduated...I just can't count it in my mind.

I promise you that nobody cares what you do or don't count in your mind. Rheindhart Harrison will forever be in the record books as a HS sub 4 miler.
In case you are not aware, 9 of the 16 high school athletes ran their sub-4 in the month of June. Since high schools across the country have varying graduation dates, it only makes sense to set one date for everyone - therefore, track & field news set one date for everyone at August 31.
Now it's even more absurd. Some fool at Track and Field News sets date after almost every university has started up so a college freshman can still set the highschool mile record and claim a sub 4. Accept what you want, but if you didn't break 4 while attending highschool, you didn't break 4 in highschool!
