I was so disappointed when I met my running hero. She grew up in California like myself. She was a decent runner in College but rally excelled as a pro. I always loved her story and respected how she stuck with it until she finally made it. I introduced her to my daughter and she was downright rude. She never acknowledged her and completely ignored us. I am no longer a fan.
Just because she was YOUR hero, doesn't mean she was A hero

You are 100% correct. I was both disappointed and embarrassed that I thought of her as a hero.
When I saw the thread title, I thought it might be about me. I'm usually pretty great when my fans meet me though, so I'm not surprised it's not about me. One time, I had eaten some White Castle an hour prior, so I had to get home to the bathroom. I hope that fan wasn't disappointed or didn't think I was being dismissive or rude.

Who was it? Why is this a big deal? Don't place anyone above yourself.

The same exact thing happened to me. Years ago, my two daughters 3 & 5 met an elite runner and she was probably the rudest person I have ever met in my life. I was actually embarassed for her. All they wanted was to say hi. They didn't need an autograph or anything else. A wave would have been enough.

This does not sound like Jordan as some on the thread are asking. Despite my feelings on Jordan's questionable dealings with Salazaar she is extremely nice, plus she excelled in college. I would guess this is Rowbury the OP is referring to. Definitely fits the bill.
I noticed this. We met her at a road race my athletes were volunteering at. Jordan Hasay could not have been nicer. She is a class act.

Except for when she's shilling prescription drugs to kids on instagram
Don’t worry I met Lance Armstrong once and was never really a fan to start. I thought he would be a di&k and he was!! Find the humble athletes that aren’t corky and arrogant. For every 1 a-hole there are 10 nice ones out there.
