Masks work. As my students get COVID right and left, to the tune of 1/3 in less than half a term, I didn't get it, nor did I get it, at least noticeably, from exposure to them for the previous 1 3/4 years. Why? Mask and two vaccine doses, but the mask was the big thing as the vaccines didn't even come in for the first 2 1/2 terms. And my classes were full of people infected with COVID this term but I still haven't gotten it. I didn't get the booster either, because I was reserving it for the possibility I might need it to be able to go to Europe in the summer. Myocarditis is an extremely common side effect of COVID, and the kind you get with COVID is worse than with the vaccine side effect--longer-term, more common, more severe. The timing for Stewy shows it was due to the illness. He would have had his vaccines back before his fantastic season of summer 2021 and he had his booster after the COVID and breathing problems he got in January.
Just profoundly sad and ridiculous. People of his age have minimal risk from Covid (and were the quickest way to herd immunity via infection). He should sue whoever “mandated” or encouraged the booster. Most allopathic MDs are cookie cutter morons who can’t act unless they are told to do so by the NEJM or Annals of Internal Medicine.
I applaud you for sourcing a respectable medical journal. Nature is one of the best, if not the best. That written, the authors clearly state "We also observed increased risks of pericarditis and cardiac arrhythmias following a positive SARS-CoV-2 test."
For those vaccinated, it's extremely rare and the published results demonstrate that.
Covid also causes cardiac issues. And again, in general, for the most part these issues quickly resolve - even quicker for those vaccinated.
Six million dead and counting. For those trying to make a case for being unvaccinated because of the slight risk of cardiac issues (which will resolve), you are just grasping at straws and trying distance yourself from the horrendous toll that you are now complicit in.

Get vaccinated folks.
There are so many published articles in “respected” journals or conducted by respected universities that show natural immunity from infection is at least as good as being vaccinated, even though this should’ve been obvious to anyone with a background in immunology. Because McSweyn already had and recovered from Covid makes the booster even more of a travesty.
Your reading comprehension shows your own idiocy. His coach says he was not recovered from COVID and had breathing issues since January. We have zero idea if the booster had any impact on anything because he wasn't racing. All we can go on is Bideau who says he had long COVID.
It's becoming clear that the vax has unexpected cardio blowback.
People will laugh at you but this is a fact. Covid is and was a joke. I had it. The booster was way worse and felt worse with running longer after. These are facts that happened to me
It's truly incredible how many knuckle-draggers will use a sample size of 1 to form an absolute, unwavering opinion.

Nobody is arguing that. Natural immunity is always preferable and ultimately the best defense. However, you are missing the point of vaccinations. Vaccinations have decreased deaths 15 fold. Are we ok with 90 million deaths? That's what we would be staring at right now without vaccinations. Not to mention close to 1 billion people across the globe with debilitating health problems. All of this would absolutely collapse our world health systems and economies.
n=1 but I definitely noticed a drop off in fitness for about 6 week post-booster shot. It ended up being temporary, as at the end of that 6 week stretch I did have one of my best races in years, but things were pretty rough in the build up to it. I was fine at slower paces, but anything approaching race pace felt much harder than it should have, and I had to pull the plug on multiple workouts in a row. As my training and workouts had been extremely consistent for several months both before and after this stretch, it seems like the most probable explanation for my struggles during that timeframe.
But, as I said, it was temporary (and quite short lived in the scheme of things), and I have zero regrets about getting the booster. No way to know if I would have similar effects from the first dose of vaccine early last year as I was dealing with a hip injury at the time, and didn't run for several weeks after receiving the shots.
Same thing happened to me, but it was 40 years ago, and I had not had the booster yet, but I'm pretty sure it's related.
Clearly I mock, but as the saying goes - correlation is not causation. Runners go through ups and downs all the time.
I'm serious about the 40 years ago. I went through a period where things just got hard. No explanation. Then I ran a monster race.
Maybe your bad patch was related the booster. Maybe it was not. N=1 is useless even when you are the 1, because...correlation is not causation. Now go get the booster shot a dozen times and run the same experiment. It may take a few years, but I'll wait.
In the month of March 2020, Julien Wanders, who in January improved the European Record of 10 km on the road with 27'13", had Covid. That time, vaccine still didn't exist.
In two months time, his efficiency continued to decrease, and at the end of April he was no more able to run at the pace of 5 min per km (8 min per Mile). He, also, had some collateral problem connected with the circulatory system.
That problem remained till the beginning of October 2020, when his coach asked me to follow him, and Julien explained me the feeling he had in that period.
That feeling started to become better after the first dose of vaccine, and now (he already had the booster) there is no more problem in breathing (his only problem is training).
Medical researches, based on statistical data, explain that the risk of Miocarditis for COVID involves 18% of infected people, so we had to look at this desease as DIRECT EFFECT of COVID rather than at a COLLATERAL EFFECT of the vaccine.
Has anyone apart from some lying anti vaccine website actually said he has pericarditis? Is this going to go down as a similar lie to Jakupovic, kyrgios etc?

What? 18% of infected people are at risk of myocarditis? That doesn’t make sense at all. How would they know who’s at risk or not? Surely 18% arent getting myocarditis and technically 100% of people would have some risk. Your stats make zero sense.
Guess what else causes myocarditis, pericarditis and severe breathing problems? Drum roll please....... Covid. McSweyn had Covid. Test positive. Blaming it on the vaccine is just foolish. And yes, certain vaccines, usually dose 2, have shown a very slight risk of myocarditis, which almost always resolves in a few weeks. I wish the lad well, really do. But he's still reeling from Covid. Just needs to take his time and he'll be fine.
So I've heard.....
Is there evidence of McSweyn's issues being from myocarditis/pericarditis? Everyone's arguing that he has a heart problem due to covid/the booster, but has this been confirmed?
Also, my understanding is that heart issues due to covid are pretty rare, and heart issues from vaccines are pretty rare. So, we can chill on those points a bit. I'm just saying a heart issue from a forced booster, especially after having covid, would be sad. Not saying that that is the case for McSweyn, just saying a side effect from a forced treatment would be a bummer. All in all, I don't think McSweyn is doing too terribly bad if he's able to run 13:15ish pace for 4k solo in windy conditions. He maybe just isn't 100% right now.

Re: McSweyn's issues - This is from The Sydney Morning Herald, "Middle distance champion Stewart McSweyn is suffering from long COVID and been forced to withdraw from the Australian team for the World Athletics Indoors Championships." And later, "McSweyn tested positive to COVID-19 earlier in the year and has battled complications for months after getting over the immediate effects of the illness."

And reading this, unkle Carmine comes up with....he has myocarditis and it is all the vaccines fault... and he wonders why people treat him as a joke.

That's a bummer. His future still seems bright though considering he even had the thought of competing at world's while dealing with long covid. I've only known one person who has had long covid so far, and the fatigue made any kind of training too much to handle. So, I would think that even getting to the line the other day with the intent to get a qualifying time says optimistic things about his recovery.
