Maybe on Russian soil, but not in the Ukraine or the Baltics. This is not Russia being attacked by Germany, it the opposite. If you don’t think Russia can get their ass kicked when they wage of war of aggression, you forget Afghanistan. The Russian population wants none of this, especially when sanctions hit. This is Putin’s folly and overreach. All I have to say is that cities consume armies. When Russia moves into Kyiv, they are going to suffer and Putin’s teenage conscripts who didn’t even know were going to a shooting war are going to have their blood run in the streets. You are giving Putin and the Russian military way too much credit.
The Soviet Union left Afghanistan because their economy collapsed not because of anything the Afghans did.
As much as the Russian population doesn't want war the west wants it even less. NATO won't even defend itself. Putin could drive right to Berlin and only the Poles would put up a fight.
OMG, comrade. You are deluded. Russia got their ass kicked in Afghanistan. The Ukrainians are every bit as tough as the Russians, though outnumbered. You are overestimating Putin and underestimating NATO. The Russian military is weak sauce with a conscripted force and fairly lame arms. Do you know what happens when an M1 meets a T72 in the field? It’s slaughter for the T72.
We won every battle in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq and still managed to lose all 3 wars... Russia can endure WAY more pain the US can. Russia defeated Germany essentially by itself in WW2. 90% of German casualties were suffered in the east and the war was effectively lost long before D-DAY.
Also, don’t forget that whatever “national” qualities you’ve decided to assign to the Russians based on WW2 would apply equally to the people of Ukraine.
I'm rooting for the Ukraine but they don't have the ability to retreat 2000 miles and wait for winter to swallow the Russian invaders....
Unless those sanctions restrict your ability to sell fossil fuels
Yeah right. You think Europe will be paying double the price for fracking gas from the US instead of cheap gas from Russia? European leaders will condemn Putins actions, but will continue doing business with him, while sending thoughts and prayers to Ukraine.
They *already* shut down Nordstream, and set up the most severe sanctions we've ever seen, you idiot. And there looks to be a lot more coming.

Ukraine's defeat is a foregone conclusion.
Yes they can’t hold long term, but they will inflict a surprising amount of pain on the Russians. They are a defiant and brave group. The world is underestimating their fight and over estimating the Russian will to fight in these circumstances. There are ethnic Russians all through the country. Putin will be killing his own. It’s going to be a sh-T show for the Russians as well as the Ukrainians.

They won every battle and never stamped out the insurgency... Same exact scenario as the US found itself in.
Guess what happens when an M1 meets 10 T-72's.... Russia is also fielding T-90s and T-80s and has over 15,000 tanks.
The US has never fought a war in didn't have air superiority in. The US military has no idea how to fight a modern war at this point.

You're an idiot, and you clearly paid zero attention to anything that's happened thus far.

Nordstream 2 was never operational... Nordstream 1 is still operational. You have no idea what you're talking about.
The Russian stock market has tanked and their already impoverished economy will only get worse as international sanctions kick in. The members of Putin's cosmopolitan oligarch inner circle are nervous and are about to be individually targeted by western governments. There are massive anti-war protests near the Kremlin. The Ukrainian army/people are not going to go down without a fight and Russia will suffer many losses and this neat little invasion could quickly turn into an ongoing boondoggle. Russia's standing in the world has been set back decades. And for what? As if they needed even more barren, crappy land. Putin fancies himself a great leader, but really he's just an egomaniacal zealot who is setting his country on fire for no good reason. This is a bad day for the world but clearly the beginning of the collapse of Putin's regime. Wouldn't be surprised if he "trips" and falls out of a balcony in the near future.
You got it mostly right. (Except for the 'barren, crappy land' stuff --which is incredibly stupid in multiple ways.) Vladdy has lost whatever was left of his black hole of a mind,... and this insane mass-murderous 'adventure' will prove to be a *fatal* mistake.

NATO has overwhelming air superiority to the Russians. Friend, all western armies with hubris, including the US, die a slow death at the hands of a native insurgency like in south east Asia and Afghanistan. We are talking the exact sort of of conflict that NATO was designed to fight. The Russians would not last a week outside of their borders. The M1 defeats all Russian tanks btw, but most are still T72s. The Russians have nothing like what we have in every phase of combat including not having nearly the same professional not conscripted military hardened through 20 years of combat. You can go on and on about the US being soft, but as it pertains to the tip of the spear, it’s ignorance to hold this view.
Oh, how about this? The very same anti-vaxx, anti-mask plandemic trolls are the pro-Putin, pro-Russian autocrat characters championing his invasion of a democratic country. What a huge surprise! Are all of you paid Russian trolls or merely ignorant?

You're speaking purely from ego and patriotism...
NATO hasn't taken war seriously in over 30 years.
20 years of combat doesn't "harden" a military it weakens it. Especially, when those 20 years were spent fighting a guerilla war versus cavemen.
The "tip of the spear" is useless when the rest of the spear is balsa wood or 5,000 miles from the fight.
Throw in the fact that half the US population would be rioting in the streets demanding the war be ended the minute we took a casualty and the odds are even more in Russia's favor.
If a major war breaks out there's a 150% chance China jumps in and then it's game over for the good guys.
Putin had four years to do it under Trump. Putin only invades when he smells weakness. Putin invaded Crimea when weak Obama was in office and nothing happened. Why not try again with another weak Democratic President.
Putin has 4 years under Trump where he could just roll over American interests around the world without needing troops. Now that Trump is out and Biden is in, he needs to commit troops to accomplish his goals.
And I didnt see Trump rushing out to return Crimea and parts of Eastern Ukraine in the 4 years he was in office. If he was so strong and able to take on Putin, why did he sit there and let Putin prove his dominance for four years while looking the other way?
At any rate, Trump has already made his position clear, he has been basically congratulating Putin. So we know he would have been a flaccid pile of nothing in this situation.

You think to little of us and the west and too much of our foes. You think a population under coercion is stronger than a democracy with dissent and protest. You think a conscripted army is stronger than a volunteer army. You’ve bought hook line and sinker that the bully Putin = a strong and resolved nation. Ok, I get where you are coming from….
More like a 150% chance that China sits it out. Let the Russians and the West beat the crap out of each other. Loan America money to finance the war and buy energy from Russia to finance their side. Meanwhile, they take Taiwan and warn both Japan and South Korea to not get any foolish notions.
When the dust settles, China helps to rebuild Russian infrastructure, owns America, and is now firmly the top dog on Planet Earth.

The Russians killed an estimated 2 million people, 10% of the population of Afghanistan. It was awful.
There isn't much reason to expect greater restraint in Ukraine. Its not like anybody will be tried for war crimes as long as Putin is on power.

The amount of disease in the tiny minds of leftist trash is truly amazing.
Obama and Biden gave Putin the eastern Ukraine and the Crimea. They sent a strongly worded e-mail to Russia and provided blankets and juice boxes to the Ukraine.
Trump sanctioned Russia and provided lethal weapons to Ukraine which they are using right now in the war Biden enabled.

Yea that "meanwhile" bit in Taiwan was them entering the war... Taiwan wouldn't roll out the red carpet...

Wow, you hate the left, but in fact you hate America. Just admit it. You hate Biden and Kamala and AOC so much, you are rooting for Putin and taking every opportunity to disparage our country and our military. You should be ashamed of yourself. You hate your fellow countrymen more than our actual foes. You do think AOC is worse than Putin. You kind of wish he was our president. I feel it.
