He will do better at UTMB because he’s skipping States. He’ll be fully recovered. I think the year he placed 5th was when he Dnf’d States??

No it's not obvious you were joking, moron. People post crap like this all day long. How hot a woman is comes up in 90% of threads where a woman is mentioned. It's not funny anymore and it's probably the reason there are hardly any women on these forums.
The "he's got that going for him" is a movie reference indicating he was joking.
These are true facts. He cheated on a test to get discharged from Air Force. The DUI was later. Speaks volumes about character and merit. Some people think they are above the law and rules sometimes.

I am biased as an Air Force Tech Sgt, but this guy is someone I cannot support. Getting kicked out of the Air Force for a DUI and cheating then whining about it, Walmsley seems permanently wet behind the years. Karma will sort it out.
A bit of a hypocrite, aren’t you, TruthBtd2???

I'm a Vietnam vet who was a Navy officer for 10 years. I learned that young men sometimes (frequently?) do stupid stuff. I've heard several interviews and read multiple articles about Jim Walmsley. His actions and his statements show someone who recognizes his youthful mistakes, learned from them to mature and moved on to become a successful and thoughtful person. I enjoy watching him race and hearing his interviews. I look forward to following his efforts to take on the challenges that UTMB and other parts of the Euro ultra scene will present to him.
not really because I don't cheat and I don't have a DUI. these are just facts, take em or leave em

Judging by the language of the articles I read, he wasn't kicked out for the DUI, got a general discharge, and, rather than "whining about it," is quite upfront about how he feels about his behavior in the Air Force (i.e., not a good look). Your "summary" of the situation says more about you than him.
Glad to see Jim is going for some real competition. If he keeps running little American races he'll never be known as one of the best,to do that he has to race the best in the world, and that means coming to Europe amd taking on the best runners and races.

People forget Walmsley has already figured out UTMB placing 4th or 5th just a couple of years ago. He knows how to train, fuel, race, everything. Some of you just don’t follow the sport. Why don’t you crap on Kilian’a multiple DNF or DNS’s?
On the contrary I follow the sport quite closely. For someone whose goal is to break records a 5th place finish is absolutely not 'already figured out'. Its not like a marathon where the 5th place finisher might only be seconds to minutes behind the leader, he was hours back after running at the front of the race for-from I recall-over half the race, he blew up and while its great he was able to rally and move into 5th he was obviously disappointed in that outcome hence he is literally moving there and giving up doing other races. You can't say he's 'figured it out' until he actually goes and does the thing he's trying to do.
And why I would crap on Kilian for a DNF when he's won the race multiple times?

On a related note - hasn't Killian won all the big races at least once... Western States, Hardrock 100 , UTMB? One of those I'm pretty sure was with a shoulder injury as well that he sustained during the race. Pretty sure Walmsley hasn't.
He's risking relegating himself to being a one-trick pony with WS kinds like SJD and Pike's Peak. No one will care about those ponies 10+ years from now, but guys like Killian will be GOAT legends for decades.
