That's a great solution to a legitimate discussion. I guess every thread about Fauci or Trump or Biden or Rodgers or Centro or Brady or Mu or Tuohy or Young should be shut down because the people being discussed don't care about the posters' opinions. Go over and not competing makes you an Olympic spectator.
Winning the presidential election, and not taking office and not serving a single day as president, does not make you a US president.
Being on a list of deployed soldiers to go war, and then never actually going to war, does not make you a COMBAT Veteran.
Being on a list makes you on a list, competing in the Olympic Games makes you an Olympian.
Ngoose probably agrees with this, and is using it as motivation to make sure he’s an Olympian in 2024.

Not entirely. To be exact, it states you have to be a competitor at the Olympic Games, which Nuguse was - a competitor, with his name in the start list of the 3rd heat.
You become a competitor once you're in the Olympic Stadium presenting your country with the intent to compete, as other athletes see you as their competition.
Now if you deliver on your intent to compete and live up to your status as competitor is another story.

Being a competitor means you competed. It’s the very definition of the word.
Having your name on a sheet of paper does not make you Olympian. That soft, weak attitude is why someone would even think about scratching from an Olympic race, while representing their country.
Do you think Ben Blankenship would have scratched from his Olympic heat if he qualified. No way in hell. Did you see him at the trials. He hadn’t run in months and was clearly not in running shape. He made it to the semis on grit.
