you're absolutely right, yet here we are. It's a train-wreck, but fascinating nonetheless. The Unkle is one of the worst but he/it has a LOT of competition. Regarding Biles. Is ‘mental health’ still being used synonymously with the ‘twisties’? Losing your motor skills out of the blue as an athlete is a well documented occurrence. It’s happened to me. But it’s a little different when you’re talking about a sport in which you’re physically endangering yourself. Simone posted videos of her training with her landing on her head and back repeatedly into foam pits; she’s clearly not been 100%.

BTW, If don't think you have read any of my posts in the George Floyd threads and the Ahmaud Arbery threads. I have been accused of being a "liberal", a "Democrat" (even though I am not an American) and even a black person passing myself off as white. Bizarre. I have further called out transparent misogyny on quite a few threads but I guess you only see what you want to.

What I haven't agreed with is transgender and intersex participation in women's sports (which has nothing to do with race). I suppose I am not "woke" enough for that. I leave that to you.

I don't have a problem with Biles quitting because only she knows what she's going through and what she can handle. What I DO have a problem with, is the media painting her as some sort of hero. My 6 year old girl, who is a big fan Simone, asked me "Daddy, why did Simone Biles quit!?".. I wasn't sure how to answer. I've always thought her that it is NEVER ok to quit, so I gave her that talk again while downplaying what she did. Fast forward to last night, she was excited to see her return, but the very first part of the segment was a human interest piece making excuses for her quitting and praising her for it. I had to change the channel. I'm sorry, but she's not someone I want my daughter to look up to anymore.

Nice conditioning, pops! You have just prepared your girl to suffer depression and anxiety later in life. NEVER quit! Stay in that abusive relationship! Keep vomiting until you reach that goal weight! Be thankful that you work for lousy wages with a sexual harasser for a boss in this economy! Daddy didn't raise a quitter!!!

You could teach your daughter about perspective or that she should exit a situation if it could cause her harm but, you opted for the testosterone driven guilt trip to NEVER, EVER, EVER quit. Simone is an amazing athlete and one of, if not the best gymnast of all time. I just wish she didn’t play the victim card so hard.

did simone let her team down? yes, undeniably

was it the correct thing to stop competing when she decided that she had the twisties? maybe, a gymnast would no better than I would.

was it a brave decision? probably, look at all the backlash she got because of it that she knew was coming

do either of these things take away from her earlier accomplishments? no

Other than the negativity toward Biles on this message board, the media has been overwhelmingly positive.

Biles turned me off when she wore GOAT over all her clothes and I think she could have put greater spotlight on her teammates. But you have to respect her talent.

Other than Lebron I don't know of any other athletes who push the GOAT or the King status.

Does she have the "twisties" or mental illness? Was she sexually abused or is she mentally ill? I find it offensive they you would categorize her as such. Nobody thinks mental illness is an illusion. "Pressure is an illusion", not mental illness, people should seek help for that.
