I'm super impressed by Marcel Jacobs, 9.85 in the Oly Final after 3 years of injuries. Even if he wasn't that close to the win, what a gamer.
I was never a Marcel Jacobs fan but he has really earned my respect. No medal but a really great race from him. That is what dedication and hard work can do.
This was the best 100 meter race ever IMO. Thompson comes in as hungry monster with the best time in the world, full of confidence. Fred with his crazy season defying the odds to make the teams and get that good and put himself in contention. The other Jamaican flying in the semifinals to make it with one of the faster times. Kenny and Marcell barely making the final. Lyles was calling the energy into him and struggling between worried and believing in himself. The intensity was insane. Then the crazy fast starts from Fred Thompson and Marcell... but knew it was going to be close as soon as Lyles kept the gap limited, then everybody in top gear but Lyles eating up the track and then that devastating lean. Holy fk!!! I didn't think Lyles start would be that great and Kerley was just next level ready to kill. He got the best result possible. Thompson with some disappointment and disbelief as he had the world's best time.. but Lylyes summoned the dragonball Z spirit bomb for this one. He's stepping into legend territory. He might be in shape to break the 200 WR.

Visiting that page I get "Competition hasn't started yet. Come back closer to the day/time of the competition." Had to go there via clicking on the schedule instead. What a wonderful website. Here's a direct link to the image, which seems to work:
NBC 100m coverage sucked. They never did show the entire results. They left us wondering about Kerley's bronze for like 10 minutes. Thank GOD for Letsrun.com.
Hopefully they take a hard look at how they so thoroughly messed up the call on one of the most dramatic 100m races ever.
Kishane's form is pretty crap for a 9.7 guy, so when he tidies that up he'll be by himself ahead of the rest in 9.6 territory.
Thompson’s head and neck visibly tighted around 90 meters - it looked like he started leaning WAY early. That might have been the difference.
I think he couldn't do better after that fast semi.. he squeeze as much as he could out of him in that final. He needs one more year to be in full.beast mode where this ain't happening at 90
Huge respect to all competitors like no one gave up till the end. Seville even with cramp went on to run 9.91 . After 10000m now 100m, Paris olympics is giving us the best races.

Why do you insist on watching rubbish US commentary every single time? Go with the Eurosport feed. Even the non track announcers were doing a good job with interviews.

Seville VERY dangerous.. he literally ran out of his muscles to try to win and tore something.

thank god for the bbc - steve cram, michael johnson they did great
Really enjoyed being able to watch the 1500 semis on the world feed, skip to the NBC feed to rewatch them and then have time to watch the 100m final live. Really fun to hear Carrie and Kara as a Minnesotan and to be able to see different camera angles in the 15 semis.
Canadian hammer thrower also going next level on the competition. He was ferocious and not the largest guy in the mix. He showed up to devastate the competition.

I’ve been watching track since 1984. This was the best 100m race I’ve ever seen, Olympics, WC, DL, any of them. Knocked the 2017 WC finals to #2.

Doesn't she know we entered the digital age about 30 years ago? She can have every jump filmed, watch them at home, and correct her form in her sleep. What's with the total analogue approach? Is she drawing pictures of Hello Kitty?
