I’m absolutely shocked that Chunko let Skemp bring a cooler of roadies to the track. Watching him not so discreetly crack a Hamm’s and then take the same cooler into the school van was hilarious. If anyone got video I’m sure that means Chunko will be looking for a new job, but that’s an epic way to wrap up a career.

If being one of only 3 XC All Americans this year in the entire MIAC is mismanaged then count me in
Coaching job of the year definitely should go to Dave Ricks for throwing Roy into the 10K to grab points and having Gabe win the 5K off a triple despite Turlington having run 24 seconds faster. Concordia can keep their high school sub stud twins and Chunko's 27 All-state runners. Ricks taking a high school 4:50 miler to to 9:37 and scoring in the steeple against the so-called steeple U's of the MIAC deserves massive props.
Ricks and Maddie are arguably the best coaches in the conference in developing talent with Mac and Bethel close behind. The argument in support of Dave is seated by his somewhat goofy personality and the fact that in addition to a handful of studs he also takes many guys who just love running and makes them several minutes faster by the time they graduate.
Speaking of Maddie, D3 Glory Days has predicted three MIAC teams to finish top ten. With the forecast looking cold you’d have to think the Cobbers distance/throws crew would be least impacted and have a chance to move up.
Will D3 Glory Days livestream the 100m grudge match following shot put between Coach Chunko and Cobber beast Cooper? It appears after reading months of the MIAC thread Power has enough and sent an official challenge to Cooper to prove he’s not the slowest MIACer at the national meet. Ole social media quoted Power as saying, “ don’t taper and I have been peaking for 33 years, so I expect to do something really special.”
I think Chunko gets him out of the blocks but will lose his endurance by 45 meters and Cooper will claim the glory for the Cobbers and all that is good.
When contacted for comment, Cooper said "I am busy traveling to Nationals and focusing on those events, but will turn my attention to defeating Chunko. I can throw a shot put further than Chunko can run."
Congrats to The Future on overcoming a fall to storm back and earn his first of what I expect to be several All-American certificates. Fuel for the fire in summer training!
