Taylor ran an impressive race. Best of luck to her.
No she didn’t. 2:29 isn’t good. Especially if you’re going to complain about Chicago not offering an appearance fee. She proved them correct today. Just because the contenders didn’t try for most of the race doesn’t make her run impressive
Yeah I mean she's literally 18 mins behind the WR. In no universe is that good.

American delusion. She was able to keep up with a slow pace and that excites them.
How can any country further tarnish the sport of running after what the Americans have done for decades???? American short distance especially (and most likely at all distances) has had dirty tests covered up by their state organizations. Now they want to whine that other countries are dirty???
Americans (at least on LR) are mad that other countries' athletes are just as good as doping as they are. And they can't have any one better at doping than them and their dirty athletes!!!!! Cry more whiners. You're taking the same drugs (or burritos).... you just suck because you are whiners.
Women’s marathon is so inconsistent I really hate to see pedestrian paced races organizers should pay the winners less money when they women run slower than 2:20 I mean 2:27 is the equivalent of 2:15 men that’s sub elite level. If they run sub elite times they should get paid sub elite times. The only exception would be extreme weather but otherwise they should do this I’m sick of women’s marathon racing. Men consistently run 2:04 women rarely run sub 2:15. No excuses for elite women running 2:20’s that’s fkn boring.
Brilliant debut by King Cheserek .A 2.11xx without super shoes.I see a bright future for him in the marathon. Now he needs to go get a super shoes contract ASAP and sign up for Boston or Tokyo.
i too am disappointed in AMerican marathon running, but that has nothing to do with hoping for one who is a good commentator.
It was a little, but just a little sarcastic however most of the posts here were about the commentators.
i did go back and read through the thread. fair. but the track commentary is always bad, and always commented on. Even at something like a US T&F trials where everybody is American, and many of them are doing well!
i think the thing is that there is no money in track, so they don't put any time, thought or money into the television production.

Yes! This.^.... The Men's race was infinitely more exciting.
LOL American runners are so irrelevant distance fans are more concerned about their commentator skills.

We’ll always have the glory years of 2016-2021 Galen to look back on - what a time in the sport. The last time an American could actually compete on the world stage.

was it though? the womens race was run like a typical world championship 5000 or 10000. boring throughout, but with exciting finish. but overall more compelling because of who was in it. ANd they STILL finish with a course record!
Taylor ran an impressive race. Best of luck to her.
Didn’t she come out and say she was in 2:23 shape? I don’t mean to be critical, but she ran 2:29-high and two minutes off the leaders. As a “blue collar runner” and mom, she’s someone I want to root for. But I feel like she consistently over estimates where she is fitness wise, goes out to aggressively, doesn’t run smart races. I feel like she’s poorly coached, trains hard (not smart), isn’t getting proper feedback on where her fitness is (or processing it properly). She’s the kind of athlete where I feel like I’m just banging my head against a wall.
As a coach how would you go about fixing the Viola Cheptoo's debacle?I thought she would have been in top 3 today.Clearly she was in shape. Is it a case of fixing her racing strategy? Or is it a case of doing more endurance work? Or was the transition from 1500m to marathon too fast? It's obvious she has the talent and plenty of speed.I can't quite put my finger on where exactly the problem is.As a coach I like to explore some of these performances by unique athletes. Any ideas out there guys?
perhaps a bad day at the office?
She was a 1500m runner in 2016, same as Obiri
With Obiri running a 3.58 before moving to the 5k same year.
