So this leaves who? To set the pCe on the final?? Tuohy. As I predicted none of the other girls seem to want to lead
Tuohy for sure.
She’ll run the first 200 safely and then surge to the front and lead the entire race from then on, full-on-assault. Not just lead, but surge so far out that no linebacker will be clipping her heels. 3:00 at the 1100m and 2 to 4 seconds in the lead, coming in for a comfortable win.
Then, stay warmed up for 1 hour and 40 minutes and win the 5000m.

Faster maybe in the final 200. But what happens if Tuohy kicks from two laps out and drives the pace into the 4:06 range? You definitely do not want Sullivan on your shoulder in the final lap.

Katelyn tuohy advanced into the finals as she runs a 4:09 which is good for 4th place in the race! After her 1500m finals she will come back and try to win t...

I think what affected Tuohy tonight was she just doesn’t run many 1500 or mile races and the few she has were like time trials following pros. Seemed a bit tentative or even intimidated especially at the start and just did not seem prepared strategically or mentally for how physical the race would be especially with that bruiser out there. Did not see THAT happening and I feel bad for Barnett.
KT does learn from mistakes quickly and still survived to the final and gets another chance at it. In the final, just get to the front and stay there, keep a consistent strong pace and just wear everyone down with her superior fitness, similar to the way Alicia Monson ran the mile at Millrose.

Oh, and get some brass knuckles, j/k.
Tuohy does always learn and doesn’t often repeat the same mistake.
That, and she was right there witnessing the stream roller come through. She doesn’t want any part of that. Back to her front-running, to hell with conserving energy.
KT has to get a better start and she needs to get separation or it is going to be roller derby. Sullivan definitely has the advantage in that type of race. And the pedigree for it.

Do you think she’d be better suited just sitting in the back until after 200m and THEN come up and lead on the straightaway, (and lead substantially to avoid being shoved to the side and back?).
I’m thinking if she sprints that first 100m she’d expend a bit too much energy myself, and possibly get forced to run the curve on the outside.
Hopefully get a good position early and then just keep turning the screws like she did at ACCs last year. If this race is run at 4:09 pace or above there are runners in the race with nasty 200m kicks.

Well yeah, tonight was a perfect example of what NOT to do (we’ve been saying that for weeks).
Although, she DID hit that 1100m in 3:05 (but so did everyone else). She’s just got to be 2 to 4 seconds ahead with 400m to go.

Some of that decision may depend on her starting position on the line.

But but but someone posted tuohy had a much faster kick. Not you and not me.
