But . . . part of the mission for universities has always been to foster the engagement of ideas - both popular and unpopular ones. Universities should be making it a higher priority to preserve this aspect of their mission than they currently are. And writing it off as "too expensive" is not reasonable and appropriate.

Milo and Coulter are agitators and their shtick is to bash people. I would call them entertainers rather than political pundits. I don't believe they bring any value to a political discussion. There are conservative speakers that can make their case in an intelligent manner without vilifying Democrats. I didn't agree with Senator McCain's political views, but I admired the man and would have paid to hear him speak. There would not have been riots if he had spoke at Berkeley.
