Cohen 's explanation for why he believed Trump refused to release his taxes:

"Statements that he has said to me is that what he didn't want was to have an entire group of think tanks that are tax experts run through his tax return and start ripping it to pieces[b/] and then he'll end up in an audit and he'll ultimately have taxable consequences, penalties and so on."

In other words 1) trump didn't want anyone to know his real net worth and, 2) no it was not under audit but Trump knew it should have been

My God, you're an idiot. 300,000 illegal felons?! First, crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor. Second, immigration across the southern border is at 25-year low, so it's not a crisis. Third, I do believe in border security and barriers in some places makes sense, but a wall across the entire southern border is laughable for a number of reasons that have been explained many times on this thread. Ultimately, immigration is very complicated and beyond your scope. Both parties, although one is hesitant to admit it publicly, recognize that immigrants contribute to our economy. As we've recently learned, the Trump family has a history of hiring unducmented workers. Undocumented workers help pick produce and process meat throughout our country. Are you ready to pay higher prices for food so that these companies will hire Americans? How many Americans actually want these jobs?

Since the caravan was stopped at Tijuana and despite there be miles and miles of border without a wall, why haven't they all crossed into the US yet?

I have agreed before that I DO expect too much of people in general. I know that that is a failing of mine, but I remain a hopeful sort there. So, point well taken. Even so, I think the evidence will be SO damning on Trump that the Senate simply can NOT exonerate him. The only place where I could end up being wrong is the timing of it all. I still maintain this will all happen before the end of his first term, but there is so much crime, that it actually could take longer. Only time will tell. Ultimately justice will prevail.

It sounds like based on Cohen’s testimony they will almost certainly subpoena others to provide corroborating testimony.

It also seems like Mueller will be wrapping up soon as well.

I think Cohen is telling the truth TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY. He really has no reason to lie at this point.

Also the Senate will NOT convict. That’s also a slam dunk 100%.

I don't think there's much chance of an impeachment based on anything Cohen has come forth with or, likely, will some forth with. It's very similar to the ultimate conclusion of the Mueller investigation. Facts/opinion are presented and left for both sides to interpret to no conclusion. There's no smoking gun. Nixon would never have been impeached without his own words on tape and, unless something pops up suddenly, we haven't heard anything such as what Nixon faced.

I think the felony campaign finance case is pretty cut and dry. I don’t see how anyone could not see that. I would have to listen to the one tape that’s been released again but that seems like the one charge that’s a slam dunk. And the payments were made while he was president.

Does a felony fall under “high crimes and misdemeanors”?

Would Trump have to KNOW what he was doing was illegal?

Trump is basically an unindicted co-conspirator to Cohen’s guilty plea.

Again....it all depends on what Trump knew and he’s very VERY good at keeping enough distance to again maintain....plausible deniability. He doesn’t tell people what to do. He makes statements and people around him charged with protecting him and his interests simply ACT.

But you’re right, there’s no conviction without a smoking gun. But the House will still impeach as it is their duty if they think high crimes and misdemeanors were committed.
