Seriously, Brosnan gets all the hate on LetsRun, but in the end, many people are actually inspired by him and Newbury Park. This video even has the same music that the L&L videos had
Wow, Brosnan was rooting for his athletes’ opponents… classic
Nobody has ever done that. Groundbreaking as usual. He completely changed high school running and is responsible not only for NP’s success, but he’s also responsible for other team’s success by cheering other team’s runners. Truly the GOAT.
I’ve heard him say now a few times that he could do the same thing at any school that has 1,000 or more kids. He said they all have the talent in them to win a National Championship. If that’s the case, a coach would have to find kids in the school that could run fast enough to score on a national championship team.
Did Brosnan find a single kid that ever scored for any of his Varsity teams that wasn’t already a really accomplished middle school runner? Did he ever pluck a kid out of some other sport that didn’t hove a significant running background and develop them into one of his varsity runners?
I guess every school over 1,000 has that many middle school standouts on them? i wasn’t aware of this.

Arthur Lydiard use to say there was "a champion on every block". He would have fully agreed with Brosnan.

Yes, he did it, and he crushed it better than almost anyone we’ve ever seen. That time in high school was absolutely insane. The coach, the boys, the girls, and Newbury Park – they brought the A game like no one else.

Really? I can’t find a single kid that ever ran on the varsity team that wasn’t already an accomplished runner before NP. can you find a single one?

Jace Aschbrenner ran a 5:18 in middle school — a non impressive time and became a future all-American NXN runner and an 8:44 two-miler. That’s just one example of what dedication and great coaching can achieve. And don’t overlook Nico, who ran a 5:06 mile as a kid — not something to jump about. And equally impressive are his girls who he had national records and sub 4:40 in the mile with almost no fast times in middle school.
Really cool to see his book featured on NPR, reaching millions of listeners. If they’re showcasing it, the book must be something good. And bringing Chris Lear on board was a smart move—he’s the man behind Running with the Buffaloes. Teaming up with such a running cult classic author was smart. Big things happen when great minds come together.

Jace also ran a 10:57 3200 in middle school. That’s pretty good. He was an accomplished runner before high school. I’ll wait for you to find a single kid that was roaming the halls without significant running experience before high school that ever scored on his National teams. aor, how about any that were in the top 10 on his team. I’ll wait. Schools over 1,000 have talented kids for sure, but NP was an exceptional situation. It’s easy for Sean to say he could, but his only experience was at NP and before the Youngs and Sahlmans (other than Nico) his teams didn’t make state one year and barely made the state meet the other. Why had he never done it before or since?

According to Sean Brosnan’s interviews, Nico was really short freshman year, and even in college he was still growing
