This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
Word is that Will C. is performing “last rites” on the report before he publishes. This is an old tradition from the LEJOG governing body when publishing a report that identifies foul play in a transcontin. Essentially a prayer to restore sanctity to the sport when impropriety is being rooted out. I believe Will C. has additional background with divinity studies as well, so all above board.
Respect the hell out of him for going out there, and think WG might be up to something, but the clips of WC in that video were actually pretty hilarious. Made him look like an absolute goober.
They should try to catch this guy the way the RD of the Sydney to Melbourne tried, back when it was still held, more than 30 yrs ago.
Story (from a volunteer) has it that a runner was reported by other runners of using his wife (his crew member) to alternate running with him during the night. They were the same height and build and indistinguishable in a fleecy tracksuit of late 80's vintage. So the RD went ahead of runners, climbed a tree on side of road and waited for them to pass. However, they decided that the same pull off area would be a nice place to rest and fuel etc, and they parked under the same tree. RD was stuck up there as they slept .
Has Will C tried this tactic? If so, I guess he is still stuck up a tree

I just watched the video, and I disagree. I think they made themselves look like jerks. Nothing in that video made me want to root for Goodge or believe that his run is legit. Goodge and his entire team appear to be arrogant pricks. I hope WC succeeds in exposing them as frauds.

Agree. Way too much hate towards someone just wanting to verify if legit. I’ll be shocked if they aren’t frauds.
First and probably last video of Goodge I've watched, but 90% of it was them standing around, in hotels or RVs, around food trucks, or talking to random people. He appeared too fresh, but maybe that's the NuCalm.
Looked as if when willvlc was being a "nutter" running back and forth, he may have been collecting data, maybe from multiple pieces of equipment, to compare when Goodge hit the same spots.
He mentioned he was doing that in his posts on Facebook (linked bottom of page 18), but they’ve since been deleted. Remember thinking at the time that he must look mad.
They were ganging up on Will C which momentarily had him lose his nerve. Nearly worked as Will C was about to leave, and then the big “development” happened which broke the case wide open.
Todays run is odd. Last 20 miles heart rate looks like it averaged below 100BPM. Yet he had a couple of 9:30 miles in there??? It wasn’t walking. Does a transcon get easier each day?
The video has surprisingly little running action and lots of hatred towards someone trying to keep them honest. Plenty of new calm. The mandatory hugs and kisses of one another. and I heard one person yelling. “It’s for charity”!

I've just watched the lasted weekly update. If you are generally doing something like this or chasing any type of records,why would you be unprofessional if asked questions? The language is unacceptable. The daily social media posts seem to be pushing more towards getting as much money as possible over the last few days, which is great if we knew the percentage breakdown? Fair play if this is all real and I'll hold my hands up if it is,but something about this just doesn't seem right.

I agree. Whatever the outcome, Will C has shown unbelievable courage and integrity in investigating this the way he has. He put himself in a pretty isolated and vulnerable position.
It's so strange. Something seems off, and I think the heart rate data has returned to its old patterns since he left. I'm hoping the report will have a credible explanation for that data - he said on Facebook something like it would answer 'all or most of your questions'.

His runs are on Strava. He posts videos on youtube. He has a tracker on the website of what he is selling. Newcalm. But the tracker is in the Van so it may or may not be where he is at that moment.
Is no one from the ultra community going to step up and follow this guy in-person for a few days like Robert Young? Would be crazy with all the red flags that this guy completes the run and will almost definitely do so with a new world record.
