Something needs to be done to stop these spam threads from being created

This thread went off the rails a bit with 1 particular poster hijacking it and trying to make it about one moderator so we have locked it.
Before I give my takeaways, if you have concerns about moderating, or posts, please report them or email me directly. We make it very easy to be heard at LetsRun.com and reach us. But if you sidetrack threads by discussing moderation, those posts will be removed and can lead to temporary bans as they ruin the discussion for everyone else.
But some takeaways.
1) Dealing with the problematic posters/troublemakers isn't easy but we need to make sure in dealing with them we do not go too far and harm the experience for other posters
2) The filters often flag people by accident. Exempt SC members from the filters at the very least.
3) Consider creating a toggle so people don't have to see "this post was deleted in a thread". In the posts where the trouble makers try and takeover, these notifications start to ruin the experience.
4) Consider moving some posts out of the main forum.
5) Look at limiting how often people can post in a thread.
6) Try and get a better handle on the use of VPNs by people posting, reporting posts, upvoting, etc.
7) I will actively monitor all of malmo's moderating and posts for the next week and give him feedback. We already actively communicate but some of your points and emails were helpful.

I'm not sure I've ever been attacked in three separate threads before, for a post in one, notably by a flurry of anonymous non-registered posters (or the same poster?) piling on.

If modding based on "personal attacks" was regularly enforced, half the posts would be deleted. I've been insulted countless times, and didn't want anyone deleted for it. I would sometimes insult them back, or move on.
With free speech, he who mods least mods best. Only content that is illegal, a real violent threat (not e.g. saying a country should be attacked in war), or real spam (e.g. an ad, or fake post not intended to engage w/ the thread) should be modded.
Eventually most admins cave to the whiners who demand more modding than that, e.g. to delete political views they find offensive. They will often threaten to leave! But they won't. Smart admins know this.
Yes, the forum was much better when moderation was in the background, and a certain amount of foolishness was allowed.
That said almost no one objects to D*h! posts being deleted. That isn’t the real problem. The problem is the way the moderators choose to deal with relatively normal posters day after day.
Any amount of foolishness should be allowed. So should any amount of "abnormality." If there ends up being more abnormality than you expected, then maybe "normal" isn't what you thought.
I'm no stranger to being admin/mod. There is nothing I hate more than the pathetic worm who crawls up to me "oh boo hoo hoo, this poster said, this, that poster said that." Get a life loser. It's just words on a screen. If you're that fragile you need professional help, and I'm not in the business. A wise mod deletes only what they have to, i.e. spam and illegal content.When the complainers move on to "well if you won't delete this, that means you agree with it?" Well, they always do. If you won't help them stay if their safe space, they start trying to implicate the mods. They drag you into it. They are low-lifes not worth anyone's time. And threads like this are a beacon for exactly them to sound off.
Elon Musk took over X as a "free speech absolutist" but it very quickly took on the same old censorship bias. The only difference was the speech that counted as "hate." It's a pretty big scandal atm as major accounts prove they are being throttled 90%. Elon knew nothing about modding forums, was not qualified to run one. Not qualified for anything, really, except very skilled con artist.

There was an anonymous poster a few weeks ago posting that Jewish people were cockroaches. Funny thing is that Malmo.was also posting at exactly the same time. So at the very least, he was surely on mod duties and this guy's posts weren't getting deleted, despite being posted within a minute of Malmo posting.
Another coincidence is that the poster let slip he was around the same age as Malmo.
Anyway, I screencapped everything and will send to the Anti-Defamation League today.

Isn't it crazy that posters get life-time bans for referring to Malmo's admitted doping, yet ArmstrongLivs is free to accuse 16 year old Sam Ruthe of doping?

The sad truth is that the Johnsons dont care about our community or our complaints. All they care about is their $$ and protecting old grandpa G.
Apparently the Johnsons really are this ignorant and arrogant to grasp the simple fact that they own a public forum and that all the good posters have hit the road due to 1 old scapegoats overmoderating bullcrap. People arent going to sit here and beg to be part of your community where you have 1 excessively bored senior killing the conversation with 1 click. You are defeating the entire purpose of having a message board.
Looking at the bigger picture, The Johnsons brothers both speak with a lisp, which indicate they may have some sort of other malfunction that we dont fully know about. Even considering that, these guys are sabotaging the running community and their toxicity is inexcusable.
Wejo/rojo have said absolutely to address our complaints about the only moderator who is breaking all of the rules. They wont even acknowledge or entertain an idea of putting restructions or reductions on his moderation. If they dont want to be taken seriously, why in the heII are they still given security clearances to interview elite athletes? I dont advocate for maIware or spam, but at this point, they without a doubt deserve to be socially and publicly canceled.
No moderator here is a "head moderator". None have more authority than any other, yet you are protecting 1 because you want to protect your own behind. You may see G.M. online more simply because he doesnt work a 9 to 5 job (and never has). His psychotic moderating has nothing to do with him being a conservative.
I will tell you what does have something to do with it. His alzheimers and dementia. Those 2 diagnoses prevent him from all basic communication in public settings and online settings. He often doesnt even know what he's typing or how his words impact others. He has now divulged into flat out name calling. He is confused, disoriented, angry, all by all accounts inappropriate in his social interactions. Its gotten to the point where he doesnt really understand reality. He thinks everyone on here is a "bad guy" and thinks hes capable of understanding everyone's life story and being a "disciplinary grandpa" to everyone. This is not his role here.
His delusions and dementia-derived anger absolutely warrant his retirement from any type of oversight or moderation duties. Since it's gotten to the point if him not really understanding right from wrong, and totally misunderstanding what other users are typing, combined with him not personally understanding his own role here, all of that creates an extreme danger to this community. Its also creates an onslaught of legal liability issues for the site owners, who really need to rethink their own indemnity being jeopardized by malImo.

You can be 100% sure thats not me. I dont put up with that sheet.
Here's a hint for you. The ADL is a toothless organization. They can't do anything for you.
Thirdly, the mods don't have shifts. They are on duty whenever they feel like it.
