I can’t wait to see what Ritz can do with Klecker in the Marathon.
Klecker is way too big for the marathon. Same reason Fauble, True, etc. can never be truly competitive. If you're over 6 ft, you need a Ryan Hall frame if you want to be good in the marathon.
Weird that Tola was a late addition to this race. What was his original fall marathon plan? Was the 2022 world champion just keeping himself in great shape hoping to get an invitation to a major race?

Obiri did not even look tired after crossing the finish line. Immediately went to celebrate with her coach
Obiri is now the Chebet of the women’s marathon. We have two vastly different events, paced/flat versus unpaced hilly, that have increasing less to do with each other. I guess we need to see Kiptum and Assefa in these races. You can’t imagine they could lose, but who knows….
NYC tracking website says Obiri's last mile was just 4:52.
Is that right? That slow?
How is that slow? Have you ever run New York? That mile is uphill along the park along 59th St, has a short bit of slight downhill in the park from Columbus Circle, and then finishes with the last quarter mile up a steeper hill to the grandstands and the finish itself is a bit flatter.
that is Arturo Barrios. The commentator is Juan Luis Barrios. Different guy.
That was the point of my previous post which I was replying to. It is almost as if they signed the wrong Barrios. A former WR holder and a 2:08 Marathoner that speaks impeccable English versus a journeyman runner that whose English was not great (it is admittedly better than my Spanish).
On the mens side, I'm a bit surprised that nobody talks about Koen Naert, who ran 2:06:56 this year and won the European Championships of marathon in 2018. He has the 6th fastest time and already did well in races without pacers (he was also 10th in the last Olympics). He could be a surprise today considering the field.
He may get top five but he won't medal.
Good call, he finished 5th.

Rojo saving nyc for his sub 3 attempt
Maybe sub 5 hours but that would be difficult as well.
